The Definition:Music crew is more than happy to introduce a new member to their artist family and therefore we're sending a warm welcome to Natascha Polké! Backed by extensive studies in the UK metropolis of London, inspired by artists like Christian Löffler or Jan Blomqvist and drawing from her ever growing DJ & nightlife experience, which already saw Natascha Polké taking over slots at the famed Hive Club and other places, the Zurich-based artist developed a unique approach to what she describes as dreamy, melody-driven Electronica.

The title track and opener "Stars Wrapped In Skin" starts on a complex, melodically intricate level, combining warm, analogue basslines and crystalline motifs for the dancefloor whilst Natascha Polké's tender and fragile vocals add a certain element of beauty, melancholia and masterly sculpted sonic poetry, no matter if this tune is hammered through a big club P.A. or played on late night radio.

"I Don't Mind" indulges in deeply felt, most beauteous dancefloor melancholia and turns out to be one perfect closing tune for a long and ecstatic night out that's about to end way after the wee hours have passed.

With "Neverland" we see Natascha Polké's love for the dancefloor and huge basslines manifest once again, this time fusing with cascading synth lines and hyper-harmonic arrangements whilst her distinct vocal style harks back to a history of well beloved big time bangers, which left a mark and carved out their niche within the global musical consciousness and extended beyond the realm of club culture over the course of the past 25 years.

Last but not least: The subsequent "Neverland Aparde Remix" alters the original cut only slightly and takes the vibe to an even dreamier, more harmonic level perfectly suitable for daytime or early morning sets fully dedicated to a style oftentimes referred to as Melodic House - garnished with a bit of Natascha Polké's unique Indietronica twist, ofc.

Burning Out is Natascha Polké’s most delicate yet confronting tune. Starting off sparsely, her voice finds its way under your skin instantly. Warm chimes effortlessly lead the way and tie in simmering synth pads that keep building steadily. Spinning in melancholy this production has its own mind, grows at its own pace and takes just the right amount of time to do so. Come the second verse, lush and subtle vocal harmonies find their way in naturally, producing a purposeful momentum before the first chorus kicks in, with a beat that starts to drive things forward. Earlier this year, emotive imprint Anjunadeep welcomed We Are The Brave label boss Alan Fitzpatrick to the fold with his single ‘Warning Signs’. A deviation from his typical sound, the track saw Fitzpatrick experiment with deeper and more soulful influences from across electronica, breakbeat, dub and house. The result was a track that sits comfortably among the soulful Anjunadeep catalogue. 

The track was followed by a standout remix from GRAMMY-nominated duo, CamelPhat, who took an eclectic approach to reworking ‘Warning Signs’. Having collaborated and remixed some of the biggest names in modern music, such as London Grammar, Foals’ Yannis Philippakis and Cristoph; CamelPhat have become one of the world’s most sought-after electronic acts. 

‘The Remixes’ package, out in July, features a new remix from Italian-born, Berlin-based duo, Mind Against. Stalwarts of Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label, the pair’s techno roots and flair for seamlessly mixing gentle percussion with vibrant synths makes for an emotive and stirring rework.

This track is probably what I am most proud of on this EP. I've always been drawn towards songs in  3/4 time signatures but its very uncommon (or non existent) in EDM releases nowadays. This song is in no way meant for a dance floor. It is really really refreshing and inspiring to write music that isn't meant to get people moving but more intended to get people out of their head and into a different world. I plan to do more tracks like this in the future!

A fan favourite from Anjunadeep 11, 'Overtones' became renowned for its killer breaks and addictive synth riff. Heavily influenced by the sound of classic UK house music, the track has been one of the label standouts of 2020. 

A year on, Anjunadeep presents two stunning remixes from LA's Promnite and Russia’s PROFF. Boasting a back-catalogue of hip-hop and dance, and production credits with the likes of Katy Perry, Lil Yachty, and A-Trak, Promnite demonstrates a further talent for melodic and deep house in his Anjunadeep debut, offering a gripping four-to-the-floor take on the original. 

First heard on Anjunabeats Volume 15, PROFF’s remix is imbued with a classic progressive house flavour, playing the main riff through a punchy drum mix that gives way to an elegant breakdown of strings and arpeggios.

Originally from Sydney, Frost has released on Mau5trap, alongside official remixes for the likes of ZHU and Sofi Tukker. His crisp production illustrates why he has garnered support from industry heavyweights such as Pete Tong.

The Blame (DJ Seinfeld Remix)

I made this series to get us all through Mercury Retrograde. The entire mix has been tuned to 432hz to bring the music into a natural vibration and assist in easing any frustrations you may currently be having. I posted on my Instagram story asking for Demo Submissions last week and was truly blown away by some of the talented work that I received. In her music video Natascha Polké takes us by the hand effortlessly, soaring through darkness and skin-diving into the unknown. An undistllled, grasping representation of a feeling we all know too well and seek so often. The visual creation defies traditional boundaries on all levels. The collaboration brought together three artists from different disciplines; director Anique Wild, director of photography Nino Michel and production designer Jimena Cugat. The three creatives skilfully and naturally weaved their influences into one, creating a truly stunning dreamscape. A perfect synergy between music, fashion and art.
