The ‘Fragments XXVII’ artwork features an image of an ocean sunfish, taken by Brooke Pyke. Brooke is an award-winning marine life photographer from Australia, based on Ningaloo Reef in WA. With a background in diving, she now focuses on ocean, travel, and adventure photography, capturing the beauty of the underwater world since 2014.

The mola mola, or ocean sunfish, is the heaviest bony fish in the world and plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy ocean food web by controlling populations of jellyfish, their primary prey. By keeping jellyfish numbers in check, mola molas help protect smaller fish and plankton, which are crucial for the diets of many marine species and the overall balance of ocean ecosystems. Sadly, they fall victim to commercial fishing, plastic pollution, and climate change.

The ‘Fragments XXIX’ artwork is a photograph taken by Kelsey Williamson, featuring a train on manta rays gliding through crystal-clear waters in perfect synchronisation off the atoll of Tikehau in French Polynesia. Kelsey is an adventurer and photographer passionate about exploring the world’s most remote and stunning regions. Her work captures untamed landscapes and underwater wonders, inspiring a deeper connection to the wild and a curiosity for the unknown.

French Polynesia is home to over 1,000 species of fish and 150 species of coral, making it one of the most biodiverse marine regions in the world. Tetiaroa Society (@tetiaroasociety) is a non-profit focused on scientific research and conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems in French Polynesia, particularly around Tetiaroa Atoll. Through scientific research, habitat restoration, and community engagement, the organization works to protect marine and coastal ecosystems while promoting sustainable development.
