Lately I've been dreaming like never before. It's colorful, mysterious, funny, and I talk loudly. 
I wanted to try to do something in 5/4 that didn't work out at all so I settled for 3/4. The more I listened to it I found I could count it as both 3/4 and 4/4 depending on my tempo. While putting down a new beat to the track I found it giving me a tempo switch which I felt added to the expression of my dreams. The lyrics I wrote while walking our dog.

Dreams

I was feeling down one day, and started tinkering with a piano melody.
as it progressed it felt as if it wanted to build on it self more and more, but to end as simple as possible.
When listening to it gave me the feeling of being in windy Dover landscape being hit by the rain, hence sour milk and rainy days. The more I heard the 2nd part of the track, the more I thought of Wilbur Mercer a character from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick.

A lot of my inspiration to making a track comes out of cinematic scenes being played out in my mind. This track illustrated the journey of a young lover looking for the one in the night, running through Tokyo.

Hashiyasume is Japanese for "A small palate-cleansing dish served between courses" 
My better half heard the track and set the title which I think couldn't be better

This was the 1st track I made in Feb 2021. I wanted to make something that was pop which is pretty far from what I am. 
It has a feel of early 90s and bands like Saint Etienne

As I Am

This started as a test to make arpeggios manually rather than using the synth arpeggiator, and sort of progressed from there.

25/7

After having finished 25/7 I was very much in a Bach kind of mood. while taking the shower the first couple of notes jumped in to my head and I couldn't stop it. Originally I wanted it with only Moog as a homage to Wendy Carlos whos treatments of Bach has been with me all my life, however I needed to hear it with strings, and once I did I felt strings was the best option for this track. I have made a Moog version that I might upload at a later time.

MALMØ’s new single ‘The Way (feat. Eivør)’ is out now.

Taken from the recently released debut album ‘We Come From The Stars’, the new single sees Danish 5-piece MALMØ teaming up with acclaimed Faroese singer-songwriter Eivør (Game of Thrones, God of War, The Last Kingdom) to share vocal duties with the band’s own Maria Malmoe. 

The video, choreographed by Laura Feline Ebbesen and filmed by Michelle Berg and Stinna Skrivergaard, reflects the tribal vibe of the track and Maria’s inspiration for writing it:

An Australian living in London, I'm a songwriter, producer and musician. Starting with classical guitar as a kid to performing in garage punk bands as a teenager, I progressed to playing in various bands internationally as songwriter and lead guitarist/keyboard. During this time I released a number of CDs with the various bands and worked with producers like Martin Terefe (Martha Wainwright, Ron Sexsmith etc) and Gordon Rafael (The Strokes, Damon Albarn, Ian Astbury etc), with Martin asking me to write and perform for (Diana Ross' daughter) Leona Naess' album.

I focus on songwriting and production, having had some success in this area in the past (writing for film/TV/advertising). As a result I'm actively pursuing this area further and am looking for opportunities to release my music in a variety of mediums.

I'm currently writing and producing music in a variety of styles, ranging from my new 'Tyre Kicker' EP's widescreen alternate musical excursions encompassing an eclectic mix of hairy psych rock, bubble-grunge, fractured swamp blues, sharp post-punk, all with cascading vocal harmonies, skronky guitars, lush strings and riotous harmonica! In parallel with this my recent 'Un-read' EP channels contemporary-classical instrumental adventures!

column:inches music is thus full of contradictions, where eclectic sonic palettes of folk guitar and contemporary-classical weave together with psych-rock and alt-rock influences.

column:inches' track 'ungreen' was recently played on BBC 6 Music on Tom Robinson's show where he presented a mixtape of his personal selection of tracks from 'BBC Introducing'. Tom Robinson described column:inches as 'like a one-man Penguin Cafe Orchestra'!

Just back from Steve Albini's (producer of Nirvana, The Pixies, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page etc) 'Mix With The Masters' seminar at La Fabrique in the South of France (where Radiohead, Morrissey etc have recorded), where he shared his in-depth studio experience and knowledge with a select group of 13 professional-level participants from all over the world. The focus was his incredible technical knowledge of recording to analogue equipment (including analogue tape), how to run sessions, how to handle artists, how to manage a career, the right attitude, and how to remain successful. Mind altering and life-changing, it has given me a fresh focus on my work and approach.
