In physics and relativity, space dilation is the difference in the distance traveled as measured by two local points. It is either due to a relative gravitational pull between them (special relativistic "kinetic" space dilation) or to a difference in velocity potential between their locations (general relativistic gravitational space dilation). When unspecified, "space dilation" usually refers to the effect due to gravity.
