Well known for their unique concepts and ideas, Steyoyoke continues to surge forward and launches yet another annual vinyl project. 'Couple Affair' is both innovative and exciting, as it channels all the skills and talent already residing within the label. Two artists are paired together to collaborate on one track, allowing Steyoyoke to streamline their skills and co produce freely within the realms of the family. The outcome is four polished originals, all exclusively created for the Steyoyoke 'Couple Affair' vinyl series.
 
'Couple Affair 01' sees Nick Devon teamed up with BLANCAh, Dahu with MPathy and Soul Button works along side both, Nick Devon and BLANCAh, for a collaboration with each of them. 

Soul Button & BLANCAh kick things off with 'Rising Silence', an unmistakably simple track that is beautifully balanced between dreamy synth lines, clean hitting drums and layers of snappy high hats. It's hauntingly delicate with embellishments of intensity and emotional longing.

The 'Shattered' collaboration shows Dahu staying true to his roots and reveals MPathy's more sinister side. Infiltrated with a strong techno presence, this track also carries a subtle progression to it, which is built upon a tapestry of dark chord progressions and murky soundscapes.

The Soul Button & Nick Devon partnership gives birth to 'Fading Light', a wholesome melodic track which is generously crafted with that ever present and distinguished Steyoyoke sound.  Alluringly, hypnotic and almost trance inducing, this track is all-consuming and confines you to place of refined aural pleasures.

The last duo of artists to team up are Nick Devon & BLANCAh with their creation 'Harmstrings'. Well defined by its vigorous energy, 'Harmstrings' is the type of track that induces a heightened sense of mystery and broodiness. The melody is both dark and ominous, with a backdrop of swirling synths and stabbing percussion.

Our special guest this week is Davide Squillace.  With his new single ‘Goiânia’ out now on Cadenza, it seems the appropriate time to invite Davide onto the podcast, and to let us hear a glimpse of his current club sounds in the Cycle mix, and some of his influences and home listening on the Source mix.

Davide is the Italian DJ and producer behind the This And That Lab and Hideout imprints.  His production career has spanned across two decades and he has recorded for labels like Ovum, M_nus, Supernature and his own Sketch Music.  His DJ schedule remains as busy as ever, taking in such clubbing institutions as Fabric, DC10, Space, and many more, as well as regular appearances on the festival circuit.

Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

Not content with presiding over three out- standing labels - Dessous, Audiomatique and Poker Flat (now in its 16th year) - and dusting down his long-dormant Traffic Si- gns pseudonym for the brilliant "Cookie Jar", Steve Bug finds time in his schedule to spoil you with another stellar release.

The title track "Coconut Paradise" is a ma- sterclass in crisp, high-definition house, as dubby synths, a solid kick and an insistent bass stab form a deeply hypnotic groove. Sustained tones surge in from the distance - all the elements coming together to create a perpetual motion machine.

"Thick As Mud" lives up to its name: this is house music that draws on the deep and deadly palette and spacious arrangements of dubstep and glitch, burnished with sni- ckering percussive repetitions and scything synths.

"Pants on Fire" is a restlessly inventive bricolage of unconventional percussive sounds and textures. Metallic tones ping and bounce deliciously in every direction.

One EP. Three outstanding tunes. Another formidable addition to an impressive discography.

Lange bevor es unseren Podcast gab, sind wir schon auf den Namen http://soundcloud.com/shuffle (der international ohne ä geschrieben wird) gestoßen. Als Stammmitglied der„Kater Holzig“-Crew ist er längst eine feste Größe der Berliner Club- und Electro-Szene. Seine Livesets „Santanegra“ und „Donkeyride“ sind beide in den ewigen Top Ten unserer Lieblings-Sets vertreten. Sein Sound ist einfach unverwechselbar. Düster, in Moll gehalten und oft auch leicht klagend. Kein Wunder, dass man auch beim Kölner Label http://soundcloud.com/lautundluise auf ihn aufmerksam wurde. Entsprechend riesig war unsere Freude, als uns Chris gleich zu Beginn unserer Podcast-Reihe seine Unterstützung signalisierte.

Seine Akumal-EP auf Laut & Luise ging direkt nach Erscheinen durch die Decke und auch seine Mirror-EP auf http://soundcloud.com/katermukke schlägt ein wie eine Bombe. Da wundert es nicht, dass Künstler wie http://soundcloud.com/n-u oder Acid Pauli sich den Berliner für einen Remix oder gleich für eine Co-Produktion ins Studio holen.

Man wird also verstehen, dass wir ziemlich stolz darauf sind, dass Chris sich die Zeit nahm, für uns eins seiner sehr, sehr raren DJ-Sets zu erstellen und unseren Podcast damit zu bereichern. Schon nach dem ersten Track wird klar: Das wird eine emotionale und tiefgründige Stunde. Uns hat sie schlichtweg umgehauen, und wir sind sicher nicht die einzigen, denen es so gehen wird.

Das haett es frueher nicht gegeben #11: Christopher Schwarzwalder

Jede Ausgabe unseres Podcasts ist ja etwas ganz Besonderes, aber mit dieser hier feiern wir eine Premiere, auf die wir ganz besonders stolz sind. Denn waren alle bisherigen Ausgaben DJ-Sets dürfen wir euch dieses Mal ein ganz exklusives Live-Set präsentieren.

Wer unseren Blog mitverfolgt, der weiß, dass wir schon immer von der Musik des Bremers http://soundcloud.com/zusammenklang begeistert sind. Auf ihn aufmerksam wurden wir bereits vor unserer Gründung durch seinen Beitrag für den Schwindelig-Remix-Contest von Kollektiv Turmstraße (welcher ja auch die Nummer 24 unseres letztjährigen Adventskalender war) und seitdem begleitet uns seine Musik, die man am besten mit deep, entspannt, verträumt aber immer auch mit einer gehörigen Portion Druck versehen, beschreiben kann. Und auch Künstler wie Oliver Schories, Solee oder Joachim Pastor haben genau diesen Sound zu schätzen gelernt und sich einen Remix von Zusammenklang anfertigen lassen. 

Nachdem nun im vergangenen November die EP „I die 4 you (Music) / Melodie“ bei Parquet Recordings erschienen ist, steht mit „Tagtraum“ das Debutalbum des Bremers bei dem selben Label in den Startlöchern. Passend dazu hat Zusammenklang einige der darauf erscheinenden Tracks in seinem Beitrag zu unserem Podcast eingebaut, ein Stück sogar in einem extra für uns angefertigtem Edit. Einige bisher unveröffentlichte Tracks, die nirgends woanders zu hören sein werden als in dieser Podcast-Ausgabe machen dieses Live-Set wirklich zu einer Rarität, mit der wir euch nun viel Spaß wünschen!
