Let’s head to the bedroom, but certainly not for a solid night’s sleep. It’s synthy, it’s hella funky and above all it’s quite sexual; Marcel Vogel and LYMA join forces on their new song, Head Back In The Game.

DJ’ing across the globe, remixing the likes of Hot Chip, Phenomenal Handclap Band and Flamingo Pier, or A&R’ing releases on his own record label Lumberjacks In Hell, Marcel Vogel is the good vibe guru. Fueled by the dance floor connection, Marcel offers up an eclectic blend of Disco, Soul, House and Gospel. Amsterdam-based LYMA is an RnB and Soul powerhouse. Also part of the LIKEMINDS ensemble, LYMA skirts the genre borders with his eclectic mix of groovy goodness.

Head Back In The Game is a song written about the wonders of childbirth, and the direct consequences thereof. The dynamic between partners and a desire for a sexual return to form, so to say. A ferociously lustful mid-tempo’d groove lures us in, right before a vocal delivery reminiscent of a plethora of 70s Soul crooners seals the deal. Syrupy chordal movements guide us through several smooth-as-butter passages describing the aforementioned willingness of sexual resurgence.

Challenging at times, but ultimately very rewarding, Vogel and LYMA are discussing the broader theme of parenthood. Head Back In The Game is an excellent opening to the freshly created duo’s upcoming batch of songs.

The brilliant Moton Records is back and as always their latest 12″ is a serious event. Quality over quantity always! Their 48th outing see’s them line up Razor-N-Tape co-boss, and general all round disco head, @JKriv for a four track smash of a 12″. This one mines the leftfield corners of the disco universe. Just the way we love it. From the brass infused get-down funk of Repent to the Latin energy of Lingala Nationale and the dirty Latin funk of Eu quero tudo every track is a score.

Our premier today is Love Dream, a proper throbbing groover of a track with a warm male vocal and some deft guitar licks giving the track more than a hint of funk. It’s all topped off by the ever so slightly acidic bassline for added dancefloor grit. This one is a track to get lost in, Balearic disco-not-disco goodness through and through.

Dimensions Recordings’ fifth release sees the label step into the world of the longplayer with Istanbul native, KEREM AKDAG’s self titled debut album.

Kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of Gilles Peterson through his output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his Getdownsoclose offering on Dimensions’ debut release. His debut album however, sees Kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs.

Across eight tracks Kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. From the stepping beats of When I Think Of You to his subtle vocal layers on Isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of Sultan to the rasping synths of Unite it’s clear that there’s very little that’s outside of Kerem’s arsenal. The album rounds out fittingly with Drums Please, which perfectly displays Kerem’s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that’s more powerful than its parts.

Kerem Akdag’s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!

Reykjavik606 is back. The duo from San Sebastian made up of Kino Internacional and Borja Piñeiro presents ‘Endless Summer In Peckham', their first single from their homonymous album again through Aitor Atxebarria’s label Forbidden Colours. Recorded at the prestigious Mecca Studios, this new sound proposal will include six tracks featuring stellar collaborations from Tenderlonious or Ishmael Ensemble and from studio musicians such as drummer, Carlos Sagi and bassist, Xabier Barrenetxea.
