For their first ever double-LP outing Razor-N-Tape presents POOLS, with a sun-drenched and laid-back collection of tunes called Innertubes. POOLS, the moniker of Los Angeles duo Thee Mike B and DJ Morsecode, craft a sound that conjures up the easy going swagger and soulful grit of the left-most coast. The original versions read like an album, perfect for a lazy Sunday rooftop BBQ with beers, bros and blunts, (although no doubt some of these gems will find their way into DJs' warm-up and boom-bap sets). The remixes elevate the juncture to dance floor level, with smooth and varied remixes from RNT stalwarts Luvless and DJ Vas, plus label newcomers thatmanmonkz, Junktion, and Superprince.

It's been a minute since we last cast a spotlight on the wonderful happenings of Far Out Recordings. As London's no.1 music hub of all things South American, we first had the honour of broadcasting a Far Out special with Brazilian legends Azymuth directly from the Brownswood Basement. We then sat down with the label's head honcho Joe Davis for a Latin special of our Collections series, in celebration of Far Out's twenty years of music dissemination par excellence.

Our attention now turns to the Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra, Far Out's in-house Brazilian disco group. With releases trickling out on the imprint since 2011, the Orchestra has been bringing a consistent stream of original modern disco sounds. As well as this, their remix roster boasts some considerably strong names in the dance music game – of which Dego, John Morales, Andrés and Ben Hauke are included. FOMDO12 is the latest in this series, with Dego's fresh 2000Black interpretation of "Where Do We Go from Here?" ranking as our pick of the bunch. A rich groove and deeply comforting swing rolls throughout the track, ringing true to the broken beat pioneer's signature sound – classing it as a stellar addition to the Monster Disco Orchestra's all-star remix package.

Introducing Kon‘s forthcoming compilation album ‘Kon & The Gang‘, we are delighted to present this 12″ sampler featuring two incredible cuts taken from the LP, as well as an exclusive remix from Kon

Opening track ‘Timeless’ could hardly be more aptly named. Sublime, smokey piano touches on the intro give way to an uplifting, languid disco track, jammed full of sunshine. Catchy vocal snippets, rock solid bass and guitar licks build up the groove beautifully alongside Kon‘s trademark staccato, squelchy synth chord stabs. On the flip-side Kon presents a remix of his own track ‘Timeless’. Highlighting piano loops and synth stabs from the original version, his rework moves the track seamlessly into Deep House territory, with smoothly rolling percussion and a hypnotic arrangement.

Truccy (better known as Compost’s Rainer Trüby and Corrado Bucci) close out proceedings with ‘Closer’, another sun-drenched groove with definite Balearic touches. Jazzy chords and touching vocals (performed by the duo themselves with assistance from Nicolas “Michael Ellis” Rogoll) lend the track a distinctly ‘live’ feel.

A delicious taste of what’s to come from ‘Kon & Gang<‘, this limited 12″ is surely going to be essential listening this summer.

Best known for his work on Local Talk and Basic Fingers, the Cologne native delivers a symmetrical 2 sides of disco edit barnstormers and downtempo head-nodders. From the beefy kick drum thump of Say What You Wanna Say and My Thang, to the obscure yet memorable sample sources of Jeep Cherokee XJ and Range Rover HSE, this is one to get the party shaking!

Wayne Snow - Nothing Wrong

Dimensions Recordings’ fifth release sees the label step into the world of the longplayer with Istanbul native, KEREM AKDAG’s self titled debut album.

Kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of Gilles Peterson through his output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his Getdownsoclose offering on Dimensions’ debut release. His debut album however, sees Kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs.

Across eight tracks Kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. From the stepping beats of When I Think Of You to his subtle vocal layers on Isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of Sultan to the rasping synths of Unite it’s clear that there’s very little that’s outside of Kerem’s arsenal. The album rounds out fittingly with Drums Please, which perfectly displays Kerem’s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that’s more powerful than its parts.

Kerem Akdag’s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!
