Amsterdam based @MarcelVogel has risen to fame following releases on his seminal Lumberjacks in Hell imprint, which along with his own music, has featured tracks from the likes of Rahaan, Karizma and Soulphiction.

Marcel Vogel’s latest release on Lumberjacks in Hell is a split EP that features new original material featuring impressive vocals from @khalil-anthony and stunning remixes from Nebraska, BB Boogie and @Julien-Dyne.

With a strong Afro Jazz influence we have been lucky enough to premiere the Julien Dyne remix before its vinyl release on the 23rd of October.

Julien Dyne is a drummer, who’s solo output is best known via his releases on labels including BBE and Wonderful Noise. Popular with the likes of Gilles Peterson and Benji B, he first made a name for himself at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy, and through that has performed alongside icons such as Theo Parrish.

Khalil Anthony provides the vocal lead. He is a poly-math, a multi-disciplinary artist working with varying mediums and media. His work investigates the relationships between spirit and space, the black body, sexuality, society and the urban experience. Weaving together these artistic intentions through writing, dance, movement, acting, painting, arts-admin, education, and song; his work speaks to a diverse audience and varying communities. 

Marcel Vogel’s “Dance The Blues Away” is a vocal lead tale, telling of heartbreak, love, then turning into lust and rejection, and Julien Dyne has put his stamp on things by adding a touch of chic. Smooth and raw, the vocal he uses also tightens the percussion with some expert sequencing. Adding some delicate synth textures he loses none of the originals charm whilst taking the track in a new direction.

Completing the recent LP reissue of Black Voices by Tony Allen, Comet presents a 2 tracks remix EP by Folamour and NIT. The two rising French producers provide great new versions of “Get Together” and “The Same Blood”.

FOLAMOUR: Behind this surprising name is hidden one of the main House producer and DJ from France. Label manager of the amazing record labels Moonrise Hill Material and FHUO Records, the artist using lots of different aliases has already burnt most of the best dancefloors in Europe and beyond. 2017 has been an important year in his career with releases on Church and Glitterbox labels, and a debut album on Moonrise Hill Material and Classic Music Company, after a whole series of successful records on quality labels such as All City Records, Fauxpas Musik and Sleazy Beats Recordings. Working on his second album after two EPs upcoming soon, it makes no doubt that it's only the beginning for Folamour.

NIT: NIT is the studio project of the French musician Corentin Kerdraon. After several years working at radios in Paris he released a first EP called Dessous de Plage in May 2017, displaying condensed grooves with multiple references, from Jean-Claude Vannier to Dam Funk... Alternating Pop projects and more experimental compositions he's present on different musical scenes as keyboard player and producer. He has just recorded an EP for the American singer COLA BOY released in spring 2018 on the French label Record Makers.

B1 - Tony Allen - The Same Blood(NIT Cosmic Mix)

This ridiculously soulful Summer-House EP is the first installment by Peter on Big Bait since 2015. We baked the essence of 3 years of studio work on 12" vinyl. Amongst two brilliant solo tracks, Peter brought in two coops with some excitingly interesting producers: 
"Arpeggio Funk" is the first co-production by the Columbian shooting star Felipe Gordon with Big Bait label boss Peter Clamat. The guys met up on soundcloud and immediately started working out some tunes together. 
"She hates Getting Photos" and "Tanzflächengebet" are solo productions by Mr. Clamat. Outstanding, colorful, perfect work as usual. Last but not least track no. four is the uplifting, 90's flavored remix of an unpublished Clamat-gem by Ugly Drums and Chesney. The two guys are old-stagers of the German House Culture and well known for their releases on Kalakutta Soul, AVA, Quintessentials etc.

Born in India, raised in Australia, and now roaming between cities in Europe and America, jitwam is an artist who wholly embodies the cultural influences that result from living in such a globalized world. For the release of his third EP titled Purple, the producer has decided to focus on a place near and dear to his heart - Brooklyn, New York.

Currently the location where he spends most of his time, jitwam describes the inspiration behind the record as “heavily influenced by the rhythm of New York. The buses, cars, and trains ...” He then elaborates that “It feels like a night out in NYC, making your way to the club and ending back at the crib at 5 am watching the sunrise.”

If we had to guess where his track Stronger falls on the timeline of a night out, we’d say that it most likely lands around the last call mark - a period in which feelings on the dancefloor are their most euphoric and the night is beginning to wind down just after an unforgettable climax. The reason we say this is that every aspect of this rising club anthem is so positive and uplifting.

From the airy, stringed melodies that loop from beginning to end, to jitwam’s ad-libbed vocals that are as lyrical as they are instrumental, Stronger sends a clear message to its listeners to keep persevering to get all that they want, and all that they need - a message that aligns well with the attitudes of those who choose to work and live in the Big Apple.

Eric Trosset, founder and owner of Comet Records, has released a stream of albums by many of the key players at the cutting edge of Afrobeat and electronic music. These include Tony Allen (Black Voices & Psycho on Da Bus), the sound activist Doctor L, Donso, Theo Parrish & Eska, Afro beat makers and the Disco Afro Series. 

Comet also develops, manages and represents projects and artists searching for new sounds and creating an avant-garde alternative to the staid world music approach. 

The label  has been collaborating with artists such as the highlife legends Ebo Taylor & Pat Thomas, on album projects  with  The Rocket Juice and The Moon, supergroup made up of Damon Albarn, Tony Allen and Flea,  exploring the afrotech sound  with Moritz Von Oswald and Tony Allen, dipping into the avant-garde scene in Sao Paolo, alongside the artist Meta Meta. 

Most recently Eric has been in Berlin working on a new album with the production duo Nu Guinea, due in Fall 2018, overseeing a ground-breaking collaboration between Tony Allen and the Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills, and worked as  excecutive producer of the international debut album of malian griot  superstar Babani Kone out  end of 2018.
