Since Amani Friend (of Desert Dwellers, Liquid Bloom) met Alex DeYoung in 1995, the duo has experienced many forms of electronic music. As the scene has shifted and evolved, the two producer's paths have ebbed and flowed in and out of each other's lives. After a long hiatus, Variant Field have come to Gravitas Recordings for their first EP in over a decade, Immeasurable. Represented via three original tracks, two edits, and remixes by Lil Fish and DISSØLV, Immeasurable evokes a timeless space, a portal beyond the edge of genres and boxes. Immeasurable nods to several nodes along the electronic music spectrum the two have experienced since the mid '90s, while bringing the music into modern bass realms. Through this, Variant Field has successfully masterminded an emotive, cinematic piece of work that is in perpetual flux.
 
In winter, a mysterious "Silhouette" stands tall in front of the dark gateway, welcoming listeners as she ushers them through the arch. Rewinding time, autumn re-emerges and courages "Letting Go" through hypnotic, melodic beats. "Immeasurable" is an explorative odyssey that floats through a tranquil nebula. Contributing their own creations of the title track, Lil Fish incorporates hypnotic chants and ethereal world influence that precedes wobbly bass energy, while DISSØLV adds dominant yet quivery basslines to the ether. Fast forwarding to spring, "Letting Go" further propels the enchanting, tribal excursion. Coming full circle in summer, "Silhouette" is a darker, more modern IDM offering that pulls listeners back through the gateway and shuts the portal.

The weirdo underground live-house duo that is SHOUSE often invite local singers and musicians to collaborate when bunkered down in their Collingwood studio. New release “Love Tonight” is an amalgamation of this working environment, whilst being a cheeky parody and adorable homage to the classic ’80’s celebrity extravaganza that was Bandaid “We Are The World”. Assembling a choir of all the people that they have loved and admired in their local scene (Oscar Key Sung, Monte Morgan (Client Liaison), Bec from The Harpoons, HABITS, Pillow Pro and so many more!), Ed and Jack have delivered the type of number that champions unity and a shared sense of eternal wonder for the future! 

For remixes we have Mike Simonetti (Horse Meat Disco) delivering a dark acid heavy late night techno jam, DJ Seinfeld who eschews the hook altogether for a fun lo-fi belter, and Australian newcomers The Nights with a lusciously pulsating melodic mover. Theres also an exceptional Acapella mix with plenty of dance saxophone!

The warmth delivered on this song is arguably tangible! Showing a shared sense of compassion and a display of strength.

Coming off the success of his previous singles released on the Gravitas Infusion series, Orenda returns to Gravitas Recordings to make his full EP debut with Reverie. For his first time working on a musical project of this magnitude, Trevor wanted to contribute to the emerging world bass scene. Reverie is inspired by the marriage of ethereal musical elements with aggressive, powerful bass. Representing a battle between light and darkness, which combat overhead a fusion of world music influences, all seven tracks present the stark contrast on both sides.


Listeners are transported to a majestic land in the title track “Reverie,” hastily greeted by an enchantress who observes the battle as light and darkness collide into a powerful bass. Produced alongside Equanimous, tribal chants are consistently relayed in "Mystic Descent" to accompany the beautiful soundscape and chill oscillations that follow. Cackles precede deep dub in “Numinus” as darkness strategizes its plan of attack. On the other side, the light warriors prepare for the next battle within a dark cave, while mystical currents flow through the water to provide strength in “Marmoris.” Glitch and dub unify in “Fracture,” lamenting on the ruptured state of the land. “You Know” is the calm before the storm, as a vibey bass prepares each side for its last chance at triumph. Featuring DTO, “Gāyatrī” concludes Orenda’s debut EP as each side embarks on an ethnic expedition towards the battlegrounds.

In 2013, Chloe Herry entered Mr. Bill's Cheyah remix competition, which was hosted via Gravitas Recordings. After earning second place, label founder Jesse Brede knew he discovered someone special. Constantly inspired by her music, Gravitas had the honor of releasing multiple projects with CloZee, notably Revolution, Harmony, and Evasion. Through the years, she has risen to one of Gravitas's top artists. Now two albums, multiple EPs, and countless singles later, CloZee has emerged as an electronic music phenomenon and pioneer of the world bass genre.
 
As CloZee begins an unprecedented venture with her new Odyzey Records imprint, she is returning to Gravitas to help raise up the next generation of new artists. In collaboration with Gravitas Recordings, CloZee has curated her first ever compilation. Titled Emergence, the compilation champions emerging and established artists in the bass realm, weaving them together in one unified tracklist of 15 songs. In a time of great division and strife, Emergence symbolizes the beauty of collective through hopeful music.
