Art this week come from photographer Isabelle Chapuis. This photo comes from the 2012 photo series Barbapapa (Candyfloss). She covers model Axel Malogona in cotton candy. Chapuis uses the sticky-sweet material to help craft different outfits and hairstyles that create unique textures and contrast against the models beautiful skin. Odessa: I Will Be There- I am a little late on this hit, but it should not be overlooked! Odessa harmonies build a wall of intimacy around you as the song progresses. The song is a safe haven that has found its way on the soundtrack of many television and commercials this fall. “I Will Be There” is just one of four songs off Odessa’s self titled album.

 

 

Låpsley: Falling Short- Lapsley is back with a new single that is sounding amazing. The production value has tripled. Her vocals lay on the track loud and clear. This sad girl glows on the delicate beat. I hope to see an album coming our way with the same type of intensity of Låpsley’s delivery on this song.

 

D.R.A.M: Cha Cha- D.R.A.M is an independent artist straight out of Hampton, Virginia. “Cha Cha” come from the project #1EPICSUMMER. The overly catchy banger is giving us the last wave of summer flavor. The Super Mario sample is adding another layer of fun to the song that has been established by D.R.A.M’s lyrics and tone. Take time out of your day and lose yourself to this song before it gets overplayed.

Flying Lotus: Coronous, The Terminator- Off of Fly Lo’s fourth LP You’re Dead! The dense, detailed track is a mood changer. The psychedelic-jazzy instrumental topped with the female vocalist brings so much emotion in the first 30 seconds. This song sounds like a person whose soul is heavy with confusion. I am very excited to hear the rest of the album on October 7th.

As we get ready for a busy summer, of spreading the sound of tomorrow across the globe, we can't help but take a step back and bring you all the feel good, forward thinking music you know and love from Soulection. This installment of our White Label series comes from 18 year old London composer, songwriter, guitarist, singer & violinist, Tom Misch. We felt the need to list all of this in the description, because each track is such an audio masterpiece. This one is for everyone, but true fans of Dilla, and smooth, mellow, R&B inspired hip-hop beats, will definitely enjoy this release.

"Basically this EP is me attempting to make instrumentals that will effect people moods in a positive way but also make people think, all produced and recorded by myself in my bedroom. I've used a combination of obscure jazz samples but mostly live instrumentation that I've recorded, so I recored guitar, violin, bit of vocals and sound effects etc." -Tom Misch
