The culmination of a working relationship that started in 2019, "Godless" is the first full-length release from Jonathan "Stave" Krohn (also known for his work as half of Talker on Downwards) and Thomas "Karim Maas" Cooper. After a joint live p.a. with labelmates in Bristol (suggested by UVB-76 label co-owner Nick Callaghan) a shared interest in both Birmingham-influenced techno, as well as forward-thinking bass and breaks music, led to further collaborations, with Krohn and Cooper pushing rhythm tracks and loops back and forth from their home studios based out of Chicago and Bristol respectively.

"Godless" finds Krohn and Cooper in fine form - it's a cinematic, richly detailed recording that represents some of their best material to date. After a tension-filled "Interlude", the LP kicks off with the brooding, slow- motion "Loop 002", melding scorched-earth/salted ground textures with blackened dub sonics to devastating effect. "D_A_T" follows, a throbbing industrial techno track with a mind-meltingly abrasive and psychedelic breakdown and conclusion. Side A finishes with "Blakk", a desolate, wind-swept landscape that cuts to the bone.

The second half picks up where the first half left off, with opener "track4" - all ominous atmospherics, howling feedback, and existential dread. "Project 1" and "Plan" are LP highlights here - both relentless rhythmic juggernauts that ratchet up the tension and never let up - all nervous energy and pulse-quickening suspense. The release concludes with the title track, a cacophonous and cauterising piece with evocative vocal samples and blasts of harsh noise.

Her days began cold, the anxiety grew more and more as the minutes went by. With every movement a rush of fear-inducing thoughts hit her, as if hiding was her only choice. She counted down the seconds in her head, waiting for the moment that she'd set foot out of her anxious state of mind and into that smoke-filled room. It was there amongst the beams of light and the rolling sub frequencies that she left her head and moved into her body. Freedom flowed as she entered the darkness: the night was here and it was hers.

Known for his groundbreaking live performances and DJ sets of broken beat techno, trance, mystical electronica and muted bass, Dawn Razor translates this heady cocktail of sounds to his own productions. With previous releases on A R T S, Scuffed and Holding Hands, to name but a few, Dawn Razor now makes his way to London's Of Paradise for his forthcoming EP, Scary Movies, which comes with a twisted remix from Pressure Dome boss Yushh: packed full of attitude, it's a masterclass in jagged techno and twisted breaks.

Babe Roots、Deadbeat、Elementなど国内外のレフトフィールドなモダン・エレクトロニック・ダブのアーティストをリリースする、Undefined主宰のNewdubhall。第6弾は、ポーランドのデュオ、Jankaをフィーチャーする。

Jankaはダニエル・シュラインダ（Daniel Szlajnda）とピョートル カリンスキ（Piotr Kaliński）からなるユニット。ダニエルは本名名義で、実験的なアンビエント・テクノ、IDM的な作品を、さらにはDaniel Drumz名義ではビート・ミュージックを、どちらの名義もその拠点となるワルシャワのレーベル〈U Know Me Records〉などからアルバム・サイズの作品を複数リリースしている。そしてピョートルも主にHatti Vatti名義でリリースを重ね、ダブをひとつの起点としつつジャングル、アンビエント、ダウンテンポ、ジャズ、IDMなどジャンルを横断的に表現するアーティストと言えるだろう。まさにポーランドの実力派とも言えるこのふたりのユニットだ。Jankaとしては〈U Know Me Records〉を拠点に、2018年にそのお披露目となるシングル「Krzyżacy EP」を、そして2021年にはアルバム『MIDI Life Crisis』をリリースしている。アルバムでは、ジャングル～ジュークとIDMが絶妙に溶け込んだ冒険心に満ちあふれたリズム・デリバリーでオリジナリティ溢れるモダン・エレクトロニック・ダブ・サウンドを奏でている。本場UKとのパイプも太い、同地ポーランドを代表するダブ・レーベル〈Moonshine Recordings〉のコンピ『Dub meets Techno』にも楽曲を提供、またV.I.V.E.K が運営するロンドンのダブステップ名門〈System Music〉からもアルバム・サイズの作品をリリース予定など、今後、さらなるワールドワイドでの活躍が予見されるプロジェクトでもある。

とそんな彼らのNewdubhallからのリリースとなる10インチ「Piesek Dub / Nemurō Dub」。本作はリズムの先鋭的な冒険心と、そしてフィールド・レコーディングやコラージュなどの音響実験という、まさに彼らのサウンドを凝縮した1枚であり、日本へ、そして世界へとその才覚を知らしめる作品と言えるだろう「Piesek Dub」は、ジャングルの亡霊のようなダブ・ジョーンとも言える楽曲で、痙攣するジャングルをダブ・ミックスによって残像へと変化させることによって、ジューク的なグルーヴも想起させるダブ・サウンド、そして「Nemurō Dub」は、電子変調された子供たちの喧噪と相反するようにフリーキーな電子音が展開する、白昼夢へとトリップするヘヴィーなダーク・ダブ・アンビエントとなっている。実はこれまでにダニエルはアルバムに『こもれび』、ピョートルはフリージャズ・アンビエント・プロジェクト、ヒノデ・テープスと名付けるなど、日本になみなみならぬ関心を寄せていることがうかがえる。本作のリリースもJankaからNewdubhallへのデモのアプローチによって実現したものだという。それ故に本作のリリース、そして時を同じくして行われる来日公演は彼らにとって特別なものとなるのではないだろうか。世界的なベテラン・アーティストから、さらにはローカルな俊英も「サウンド」を価値基準に紹介するレーベル、Newdubhallのある種の確固たる姿勢も示す作品でもある。（河村祐介）

Our first release, out November 2009.
You can immediately hear the 2 step garage influence in the drum lines. Asusu perfectly couples those skipping beats with bass and melody in these two tracks to produce tunes with incredible pace and drive. More than just re-creating garage though Asusu fuses elements of it with a feel of dubstep bass wieght and techno melodic elements. Deep and meditative but still very much tracks for the dancefloor.
