Our next international guest goes by the moniker @doragray. A DJ and  vinyl collector from Finland part of The X-Rust Organization and an active member of the local scene of Turku since her teenage years. After buying turntables in 2006 Dora Gray was mostly into house and techno music, but right after, her taste evolved into more electro sounds and broken beats while growing a soft spot for acid. When it comes to mixing, she always strives to find harmonies so as to tell a compelling story through music, and that is what she has definitely done in this 42nd N2MU podcast. Enjoy it!

Hoshina Anniversary is one of the most interesting and engaging electronic musicians releasing right now. With recent records out on ESP Institute, Osàre! Editions, YOUTH and Alien Jams, the breadth of styles alongside the volume of releases is a reflection of Hoshina’s prolific and all-encompassing approach to making music. His record Jomon from earlier this year is a prime example, taking influence from jazz and fusion, the use of electronic alongside traditional Japanese instruments make it one of the best and most idiosyncratic dancefloor-adjacent records of the year so far. Whilst Hoshina’s music has a distinctly Japanese feel to it, the influences of percussive UK sounds and Detroit techno are also very apparent in his productions.

Vesa-Matti Kivioja (aka Vesu’s aka Torolf Stendik) hails from the city of Vaasa on the west coast of Finland. Gaining interest for everything audio related from early on, he initiated his own productions in the late 90’s followed by record collecting and DJing. After playing in different bands throughout the years Vesa-Matti wanted to put his main focus on his own productions. Fast forward to 2011 and Kivioja launched his live acts that consist of techno, dubby electronica and ambient, often tailored especially for events. Vesa-Matti Kivioja released his 7-track debut vinyl “Lopun Ajat” on Ljudverket in 2013 followed by more releases on Labrynth (US), Subself (Ukr), 89:Ghost (UK), Going Good (UK), Meltdown (Fin), Studio Barnhus (Swe), OO recordings (Fin) and Vieno (Fin).
His debut album was released in 2015 on cassette by Finnish label Kaukana Väijyy Ambient. The same year he launched his own imprint Snakesynk with a 12-track album. V-M is also involved in the Ostrobothnia Power Discs label and is a member of the Meltdown Deejays collective which was founded in his hometown Vaasa back in 1993.
