For the 34th edition we welcome Extase Urbaine to our mix series.
With his roots in Amsterdam’s DIY scene, Extase Urbaine has been quick gaining a momentum, achieving local and international recognition.
He is the co-founder and resident DJ of HDE, a collective dedicated to pushing the boundaries of underground clubbing. HDE nights quickly became among Amsterdam’s most recognized parties, known for their multidisciplinary approach to the dance floor.
His DJ sets cross weave genres, scenes, past and present, blending everything from body music and techno, to electro and trance-y explorations.
Extase has released music on independent record labels such as Soil and Ferma, and is soon putting out an EP with Slow Motion/Wrong Era imprint and Budapest’s Dalmata Daniel.

The pashmina is a shawl type clothing whose best use is to fashion and regulate temperature of your body. It also shares the name of a Fribourg-based duo; consisting of Vincent Gross and Nicola Marthaler. Rather than being seen as a traditional duo, they are a self-described as a support group. Supplying each other with unearthed tunes and meeting in the middle to showcase a sound derived from years of diligent music curatorship. 

Music affiliated veterans of the Fribourgean scene, their contribution are best observed within their various activities. For one, Nicola co-founded TRNSTN Radio, a broadcasting station whose identity is enthralled by being a place for creation, gatherings, experimentation and reflection. Vincent as the other, enriches the scene as a member of the committee of legendary statused Fri-Son, as well as having co-founded Ablette Records with his partner. 

The music behind this record is something of an ode to their eclectic music taste and blithe personality. Influences of proto-trance, early goa and nods to early 2000s breakbeats as familiar references that are wrapped with a contemporary twist. A departure in sound from their previous works, the focus of this release is reflective of their heterogeneous sets; psychedelic soundscapes, downtempo oddities, soaring bass lines and care-free melodies. The sonic pallet weaved together by these two music seamsters has generated the wildest harmonic reverberations. Los Pashminas, a combination of materials to make a soft, yet sturdy piece of clothing. A suitable metaphor to underline their idea of a cathartic understanding of when to push and when to let go.  An amalgamation of their domesticated exotism of obscure music, style and comfort, pseudonymised by these two characters.

"Niteffect has made a concept album for us, dedicated to Man's Best Friend and our puppy Dalmata Daniel couldn't be more honoured!

This album is Niteffect's debut on our label, but we are not talking about a rookie producer, because he has been releasing music since 2007 mostly on Hamburg-based Kreislauf. His music is mainly characterized by strong emotion melodies, deep basses mixing with downtempo, trip-hop, idm, and deep house sound elements.

Man's Best Friend is an electro-oriented album, sometimes with breaks or other broken beats sound, but the most common that all the tracks have deep emotional synth waves. Niteffect playfully uses these to create melancholic and more upbeat moods, creating a varied but coherent whole, perfectly capturing the changing experiences of a summer vibe."

Born in Munich and currently based in Thessaloniki, Whiplash is a young upcoming artist. She’s quickly become a resident DJ at OSM Tapes Event Series and the A&R for upcoming premieres and podcasts. Ever since early childhood she’s been keen to dig into as many facets of music as possible, eventually becoming a guitarist and a vocalist in polyphonic projects. In 2020 she decided to move her passion for the electronic music spectrum forward and start DJing. Her sound is a multi blended construction, heavily influenced by the early EBM and 80’s Post- Punk movement. She also likes to incorporate techno, dirty electro elements and Dark-Wave touches in her DJ sets, in order to create a rich, multidimensional soundscape.

The fifth Kri release was produced by a New York based producer Richard Gamble, who has appeared on our compilation Trust The Rust and has received the seal of approval on legit labels such as Marguerite Records and Public System Recordings. Dream Sequence EP explores the boundaries between mutated Wave, Minimal Synth, and EBM in search of a perfect loop and the most epic melody. A dim and moisty atmosphere is often cut by a ray of light but you can't be sure if it's just a flashing strobe. Three original tracks command absolute attention on the dancefloor or on the sofa and are accompanied by a Violet Poison remix. Francesco is another Kri acquaintance, who adds some industrial muscles and sends the vocals and the record into a frenzy. Cheers!

Machine Cult is an electronic music platform hosted by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe. Functions on one side as a record label. On the other, an event series. The launch party will be taking place in OT301 (Amsterdam) on the 25th of November. The purpose is to showcase a part of what the local and international scene the Netherlands has to offer. Hereby presenting Edition One.

Scouring from the surfaces of Amsterdam and Rotterdam comes out six original tracks composed by the following artists. Déandrah (AMS), Garçon Taupe (AMS), marienus (RTM), Moodswings (AMS), The Spy (AMS) and xceptor (RTM).

In a world where we have too many choices, but not enough guts to pursue any of them, motivational speaking and councillors become the next billionaires, to inject the fearful with confidence so that they may excel at their passion and make the world a better place by self-adoration, collaboration and not competition.
Intricacies of noise, self-development of taste and homages to past times, the edition before you is a compilation of works from newcomers and scene veterans. Having captured the face of a pseudo-mentalist, these artists have noted the effect of the long exposure to sound that may have affected their biomechanical characteristics. 
For a while, you will discover new things, and it is all so exciting and fresh, because this altered state gives you new perception, in and hindsight.  Music theory, out of all things, can also have some pretty nasty effects on your body. All of it can mean you can start suffering long before you become a musician.
You’ll probably start looking ill, losing weight and feeling like you might deserve it.You’ll begin to play instruments not to get high anymore, but only because that is your new standardised norm. You simply don’t know what else to do. As you lose control of your body’s health you could eventually lose control over your mind too. 
Until  one day you’ll wake up knowing that, instead of continuing investing yourself in your instruments, they slowly become controlling towards you. So, if a friend invites you to a jam session, use your brain, while you still can. And just, say, yes.
