“Welcome to 24 hours with an alien. My name’s Katya, I’m a London based DJ originally from Russia. The idea behind the takeover is that I’m going to be taking you on a day in my UFO, to many different planets each exploring a different genre. We’ll be starting somewhere deep under the Drexciyan sea with an electro set courtesy of Gunfinger Food & Mixtress. We’ll gradually head to space for Dr Watson’s set and make it all the way to Tres-2b, the darkest planet in the universe, for eXpressO’s set. After that we’re gonna start heading back to Earth for sunrise, listening to Jake Walker’s set along the way. We’ll make it to London for a day of UK bass, Garage & Funky. Once we finish up in London, we’ll make our way back to space with Dr Baird, Seven Hills Records, Tañ & Rough. We go back to the dark planet for an industrial techno & electro finish. Installment three in the Shared Frequency series comes from none other than DJ and visual artist/designer Hewan Aman, hailing from Paris Hewan caught our attention with her masterful selection of percussive tribal grooves and deep trancey numbers, a sound which very much resonates with our vision as a label as we find ourselves speaking the same sonic language and connecting through a shared love of this music.

Some words from Hewan regarding this mix, "I curated this mix with a variety of tracks and sonorities with the intention of re-interpreting the energy I felt in CA001. I also built it with the intention of giving out my representation of how common ancestry can be felt through music with blends of goa sounds, dub, drums, progressive and percussive sounds. Combining recent and older releases."

"For various reasons, I took a big retreat from the world of electronic music this summer. Every time I tried to listen to 'club' music my brain would just switch off, and I instead I found myself gravitating towards a steady diet of ambient, video game soundtracks, and podcasts. It was quite an insular period in my life as well; I was signed off from work on sick leave, so I didn't do any festivals or clubs, and I didn't do any DJing or music production either.
 
In retrospect, this time away was super necessary for me to get the passion back; my brain has done a huge musical reset and I'm totally obsessed again (thank god!). For now, I've emerged from my trance wormhole and and have found myself leaning  back towards the strains of electronic that I originally got into as a teenager; weighty soundsystem tracks with attitude, with an emphasis on low-end and drums. It's less melodic and more groove-driven; heads-down, not hands-up. 

I'm super happy with how this comes through in the mix, hopefully you enjoy it too!"
