Three piece Opik, which consisted of Murray Clark, Chris Deverell and Robert Ellerby delivered some of the most bustling, pulsating, instrumental electronic music of the 90’s. Driven along by forceful emotional basslines coupled with melodic synths and the occasional epic vocal sample. Think LFO, think Orbital, think Leftfield, think Underworld and you are nearly there. Music truly ahead of its time.

US based Anderson (@andersonmusik) is a chap who knows his stuff, and is without a doubt one of the best and most exciting artists out there. 

Having caught our eyes (and ears) a couple of years ago with his sublime Description EP on the wicked Tresydos imprint, we have been completely and utterly flawed by all the music Matt has shared with the world ever since. With multiple releases on labels such as Wex, Gestalt, Space Lab and Gene On Earth’s T.S.O.L, he not only produces under his main moniker ‘Anderson’,  but also has 5 other active aliases and counting!! This dude is a total power-house when it comes to releasing music, and what’s even more impressive is that he is still able to maintain the highest level of quality whilst still keeping true to his trademark rapture-ish sound we have all become accustomed to in all of his projects. 

We were very fortunate to be given the chance to feature one of Matt’s tracks, ‘Sunbeam’, in our final Viral Syndicate digital compilation last year. This turned out to be one of the tracks which gained the most interest from all 50+ tunes we released during the series, and will be seeing the light of day on wax in the form of a 4 track EP next year on Haŵs. We are extremely excited to share this project with you all, more news to follow mid-2022.

“F. Free & H. Hand take control of HOTONES001, with a reissue of a not just rare but colossally fabled record that only ever made it to test press in 1995. Ten copies were produced of this three-track excursion into the analogue heavy echelons of a deranged technosphere. 

‘Headwash’ shudders through your body like electricity, off-kilter bleeps miraculously balancing the composition, while a menacing bassline inflates your lower body, and some. ‘After All’ drops the pace, employing the iconic Ensoniq DP-4 to create moist, meandering patterns that epitomise the 90s hedonistic German subculture in which the record was developed. The record’s finale, ‘J.S.B #2’ is the most ruckus cut of the lot, playing with heavy leads, synesthesia inducing scenes of strobe lights are inevitable - pair the two, and you have outright carnage. 

This is music for smoked out, fast and long raves. Do not sleep.”

Next up on Magnonic Signals we are pleased to welcome the silky skills of ReKaB aka UK stalwart James Baker. First appearing on Where We Met in 2019 followed by stellar releases on Móatún 7, Intellitronic Bubble and Fourier Transform, here he provides a superb 4 track EP that showcases his immense talent with his love for Detroit techno shining through.

To start us off we have the blissful deep of Finally Home (+) with swooning glassy eyed pads and a chunky SH bassline this deep electro burner really sets the scene. Next up Albear Wave (++) takes us into deep space territory, perfect for cruising just before planetary exploration. On the flip we begin with the stunningly beautiful Me and You (-) an intergalactic love song that will tug at the heart strings and provides that melancholic feeling we all long for, simply gorgeous. Last but by no means least the title track What Is Our Future (- -) It could be the perfect track for the sun-drenched sands of Ibiza one that would give goosebumps when dropped, an amazing way to round off the EP!

ReKaB is on top form here with all four tracks hitting the spot, a classy record from start to finish.

It’s an excursion into the past for Curated By Time, as the Spanish imprint travels back to the millennium on Kage’s A Future Remembered. Five vintage cuts that embody the sound of an era long gone, but never forgotten.

We’re blessed with a trance-leaning musical number on Nightvision, with softened kicks and enchanting vocals marrying up in beautiful harmony. Semaphore then takes us into a weightier realm, as thick percussion moves beneath shimmering synths throughout.

The ambient sounds of Lost Cities come next, with blissed-out, dream-like elements transporting us to a world far removed from our own. It’s the ideal precursor to Seven Years, which ratchets up the tempo via four-four drum patterns and whip-like claps, before Acapulco Delight completes proceedings on a minimal-toned, techno-inspired note.
