I tried out various online tools to convert different field recordings into text and ended up using https://editor.flixier.com/transcribe/ - because it was the only one that worked on any of the recordings. I also tried audio > video > YouTube but YouTube failed to caption the videos.

I used an echoey recording of a recent visit to a cathedral which translated into nonsensical text (in German) but unfortunately no descriptions like [noise] or the like. I did not find a way to read a score or musical instruction into the text so I used text to speech - including the time stamps to translate the text back into audio. Because it is a rainy day, I turned this into a house track, sort of.

Disquiet0608 - Lustig Piper

I recently got my hands on the Terra from Soma and, well, I haven't been able to keep my hands off of it. So I decided to use it for this challenge employing the arp mode with the timing regulated by an external clock. There are three, roughly 1 minute segments to this track. The first runs the Terra through an Eno style airport looper, with 4 intersecting loops. The second does the same, with a little help from the granular mode on the Cosmos. The third Terra arp is just run through the Cosmos delay mode. The first track uses an arpeggio with about 5 notes, the second about 3 and the last only 1, with the "sun" knob on the Terra creating some tonal variation. Hopefully at least some of this will be useable!

2023 has been a successful year for the nomadic Irish artist which has seen his diverse synth-pop sound reach music lovers around the world. Following a unique interpretation of Johnny Logan’s 1980 Eurovision winner 'What’s Another Year' Keelan unveiled electro-pop banger 'Never Wanted
Nobody Else' in October.

Fast forward four weeks and Keelan is once again able to illustrate his chameleonic approach to songwriting, through the atmospheric single Fresh Paint. Hazy and nostalgic yet grooving and contemporary, Keelan seamlessly melds cinematic 80s soundscapes with sleek, modern electropop,
creating a reflective piece of work.

Providing an emotional inner landscape of Keelan’s view of modern life, the singer tackles themes of relationship misfires, boundary setting, self-discovery and defiance. The song’s title alludes to how we metaphorically paint over our own emotional landscape before quickly moving onto the next scenario.

Fresh Paint will be Keelan's final release of the year having already gained support from the likesof BBC Introducing Three Counties & Northants, RTE1, 2XFM, Today FM, The Vinyl District, Synthpoplover, Hot Press, Sunday Times, Side-Line Magazine and Electricity Club, The Keelan X Band debut headline gig is at The Workman's Club Cellar, 26/11/23.

Fresh Paint is out on 17th November 2023.
