Alan’s new single on Drumcode demonstrates exactly why Alan Fitzpatrick is a powerhouse within the techno scene. ‘The Tetra’ will enrapture the dance floor from the off with it’s brooding nature and syncopated claps. It pushes forwards with glistening highs before more melodic stabs join the equation and slowly the beautiful melodic phrase partakes in this outstanding piece of work. ‘We Are Forever Young’ finishes off the single with a slow burning after hour’s vibe that will keep the clubbers nodding. The third and final track ‘1992’ takes us back and has a tougher more energetic feel to it. With crunchy drums, a melodic synth and a catchy vocal hook this record is another Alan Fitzpatrick masterpiece.

Nicole has returned to Drumcode all guns blazing with her new ‘Bittersweet EP’. The A- side ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’, is a deep rolling techno machine that uses a constant building percussion loop that eventually explodes into some serious funky signature Moudaber techno! ‘Bittersweet’ is a techno belter that uses a hypnotic synth rhythm that will take the listener into another world. The repetitive claps induce a flurry of energy and excitement whilst supported by the crisp highs.

Longtime Berghain resident, Figure Music founder and Berlin techno stalwart Len Faki is known both for his discerning, impeccable taste, so when we heard that he had agreed to remix French artist DNGLS for the enigmatic Anemone Music label, we were understandably enthused.

What Len ended up turning in, however, was much more than simply a remix, but, as the label calls it a “whole new realm of possibilities” – three different versions of DNGLS‘ “Hooly” – and we’ve got an exclusive listen below.

“When I heard the track first time, I instantly loved this special melody a lot,” Len tells us. “It was a pleasure to work on it, also because it is a little different than my other productions and a great experience to work in this direction. In the end, this is how the three different versions were formed, mirroring three different club moments. The first one is more like an energetic moment on the floor, while the ‘Tool’ is clubbier, more subtle, focused on the late night club moments. The ‘Beatless’ version is to listen to outside the club, or starting/ending the night.”

 British powerhouse Alan Fitzpatrick returns to Figure with his second EP on the label after 2009's 'Weed Killer / Science'. Since then its clear that Alan has continued on a dedicated, valiant quest to find his own sound, and the results are on show here, with a heavyweight, emotive and futuristic Techno three-tracker.Like a warm rush of endorphins on the summer breeze, Alan's rich up-building sound is perfectly represented in tracks like 'A Subtle Change', with its jubilant stab-led melody, or the modern club-weapon vibes of 'Trigger Finger'. Harking back to late 90s UK IDM and 'proper' dub-Techno atmospheres, Fitzpatrick then gracefully crafts a down-tempo, space-out version of 'A Subtle Change' for the B-side, providing the afterhours sessioners with a new buzz-track.

Austrian label @Drowne Records are on the verge of their new release next week. Ran by Altberg & Tony Vegazz, they have a great underground ethos featuring artists like Sutter Cane, Chris Colburn, XHEI to Krenzlin and many more.

The latest “Textures EP” from DT favourite @RicardoGardunoMusic who we featured recently, gets the remix treatment from Netherlands based rising star and Affin stalwart, @KeithCarnal.

The track itself gets a stomping and slightly more melody driven twist, with sparse atmospherics that create a dreamy ambience. Slowly building tension and a euphoric edge take hold, with subtle soundscapes and hidden details, this can work in many stages of a DJ set and was our choice for this “DT:Premiere.”

Soma label heads, Slam are back with a brand new killer EP on their home label in the form of the Fractious EP. Here they deliver two dark dance floor burners for their latest release! 

Title track Fractious kicks off the release and fires out an electrifying synth hook, giving the track an instant percussive element, backed by simple and effect drums that keep a steady groove. Slam's experience of production shines through on this as each refined component glides seamlessly together to produce a powerful, pulsating track. 

Serpent takes an even darker route with a subtly evolving 303 baseline that lurks menacingly in the background allowing edgy variants to ebb their way in slowly, adding to the already tense vibe created throughout. A perfect DJ tool for those surreal moments. 

As Slam & Soma build toward their 25th year, the duo show why they have been at the forefront of Techno with this expertly produced and dynamic release.

What does techno look like in its purest form? Clear in its structure. Credible in its message. With an insistent beat in the background. With its heart in the right place.
