It doesn't take much convincing to know that Brazil is one of the true platforms for timeless music. Since the early days of MPB, we have been blessed by the likes of Elis Regina, Edu Lobo, Vinícius de Moraes, Jorge Ben, Caetano Veloso, Djavan and many more. We could go on, and expand further into the libraries of samba, funk, disco, boogie and beyond, but basically, all these various forms are united by an universal thread of love, struggle, warmth and groove.
Proper forward, and here we are with our most recent discovery in the shape of a prolific talent, NeguimBeats. Again, as with all of our artists, he moves seamlessly between different styles, creating Hip-hop, Modern funk cuts and tough Trap numbers with the same flow and efficiency. Yet they all pay homage to his roots, which ultimately defines him as a true individual.
His debut Ep, entitled 'Sweet Life' on Darker Than Wax is scheduled to drop late August, and we can assure you that it will be a keeper. Oh, did we mention he's only 20?

Q: LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR MIX FOR OUTDOOR TAPES. HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON THE TRACK SELECTION AND WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE PERFECT SETTING FOR THIS MIX?

I wanted to focus on the idea of discovery; nothing is more magical than finding a forest clearing or hiking to the top of a hill and enjoying a wonderful view. It’s in these moments, when nature reveals its hidden beauty, that we feel the joy of exploration and a sense of connection with the world around us.

Q: IN YOUR YEARS OF DJING AND EVENTS, WHICH PLACES AND EXPERIENCES REALLY STAND OUT FOR YOU?

A few experiences really stand out. One would be Elsewhere in NYC the energy of the crowd was just electric and the sound system was incredible, it felt like a shared journey between the audience and me.
