Coming off a very successful and eye opening week with Sango's  new North LP, our momentum is respectably at the highest that it has ever been. For this show we had the young and progressive producer Great Dane who is the co-founder of one of the best collectives in LA (Team Supreme) and an artist on Alpha Pup. Joe Kay kicked things off for the first hour & 28 minutes of exclusive material ranging from Mr. Carmack, Kaytranada, Sango, Jo Def, Esta, and many others. Great Dane truly understands our memo when we say, 'NO TIME FOR FILLER TRACKS'. As soon as he hit play constant energy and bass started flowing. He played an exclusive 45 minute set which consisted of all original productions except for two tracks. This won't be the last time you hear from him.

Soulection Radio Show #138 w/ Great Dane

It doesn't take much convincing to know that Brazil is one of the true platforms for timeless music. Since the early days of MPB, we have been blessed by the likes of Elis Regina, Edu Lobo, Vinícius de Moraes, Jorge Ben, Caetano Veloso, Djavan and many more. We could go on, and expand further into the libraries of samba, funk, disco, boogie and beyond, but basically, all these various forms are united by an universal thread of love, struggle, warmth and groove.
Proper forward, and here we are with our most recent discovery in the shape of a prolific talent, NeguimBeats. Again, as with all of our artists, he moves seamlessly between different styles, creating Hip-hop, Modern funk cuts and tough Trap numbers with the same flow and efficiency. Yet they all pay homage to his roots, which ultimately defines him as a true individual.
His debut Ep, entitled 'Sweet Life' on Darker Than Wax is scheduled to drop late August, and we can assure you that it will be a keeper. Oh, did we mention he's only 20?

Last week's show was definitely one of my favorites to date. It's weird how things work. It's the shows that I feel most unprepared for that end up doing well... maybe it's because I just really freestyle and go off of my whole library of music rather than trying to curate a specific vibe. It was hard to top last week's show but I did my best to really take it right back to the early beat era from 2008-2012 and played some current gems as well. I hope you enjoy this. Timing is everything. My man GoldLink and I have been trying to find the right setting to sit down and chop it up. After months of bouncing back and forth we finally connected and made this session happen. GoldLink to me is one of my favorite emerging artists. I don't really need to give him an introduction. But just know that he has Rick Rubin on his side, Soulection on his side, and every A&R/label head on him. It's refreshing to connect with an artist who gets our sound and is at the forefront of this future beat sound/forward thinking community. GoldLink said that he and Soulection will run music in 2015 and beyond. Hear why.
