BLUE CLOUD was a performance as live broadcast of sky / clouds onto a TV network with a BBS (bulletin board system) by Dirk Paesmans in 1991.

Phone calls to random numbers in the phone book were made during the airing by an "IBN" representative who was able to affirm their audience by asking viewers to tune in and see the "BLUE CLOUD"?

INTROS:

Karen Archey (, USA) is an art critic and independent curator based in New York and Berlin. Her writing is regularly featured in Frieze, Art Review, Kaleidoscope, and Art-Agenda. She recently co-curated the survey exhibition “Art Post-Internet” at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing. She has served as Curator-in-Residence at Abrons Arts Center and the Editor-at-Large of Rhizome  at the New Museum has spoken about feminist and internet-related art practices at venues including the International Center of Photography, New York; Slovak National Gallery, Bratislava; and the Institute of Contemporary Art, London. She has recently contributed to anthologies published by van Abbemuseum, MIT Press, New Museum, Whitechapel, Sternberg Press, and others.

Renee Carmichael (1986, USA) is a writer and artist based in Berlin. She graduated from the MA in Interactive Media: Critical Theory and Practice at Goldsmiths College in 2010. In 2013 she was a resident at the Space Studios permaculture residency in London and part of the Transmediale project: Evil Media Distribution Centre, with YOHA, in Berlin. In 2012, she participated in the project Accordance, a collaborative exhibition with Grand Union in Birmingham and the online platform or-bits.com, where she created both online and offline works exploring the limits of webpages. She is the founding editor of the experimental publication Flee Immediately!.

Dirk Paesmans (1965, BE) + together with Joan Heemskerk they make up the net.art collective Jodi or jodi.org. Jodi's background is in photography and video art and since the mid-1990s they created artwork for the Internet. In the 1999 Webby Awards where they took top prize in the category of "net art" and used their 5-word acceptance speech (a Webby Award tradition) to say "Ugly commercial sons of bitches." Paesmans studied with Nam June Paik at the Kunstakademie in Dusseldorf. Jodi's works have been exhibited at Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow; Kunstverein Bonn; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Zentrum fur Kunst und Medientechnologie, Karlsruhe, Germany, and Documenta X, Kassel, Germany, The Whitney Museum among others. Dirk recently discovered jodi.org was possibly the first net.art website to be registered.

Niko Princen's (1979, NL) practice concentrates around the internet, wherein the human interaction and (mis)communication through the computer play a role. He works in front of the screen as well as behind, sometimes blending the two together. Exhibitions include; Kunsthaus Langenthal, Switzerland, The Future Gallery, Berlin and the Museum of the Moving Image, New York. He studied art at Hogeschool van de Kunsten Utrecht and at the The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
