Hailing from the Netherlands, Utrecht-based Feiertag has risen through the ranks with a well crafted discography and a hypnotic soundscape on labels like Last Night On Earth, Boogie Angst and Kitsune. He is a consummate live performer and is also the drummer for Kraak & Smaak’s live show. Over the last year he has released a series of blissful singles & EPs giving a mesmerising foretaste of his debut album, set for release on Sonar Kollektiv in June. ‘Saccharine 374’ is a laidback and jazz fueled affair with enchanting chords layered over loose syncopated drums. Hi, Hope everyone is OK. The world today is like a different world to the one we were in just a few months ago. We are all isolating at home. In the current situation, it's a bit hard for us musicians to make music together in a studio. So I asked them to record their playing instruments to my track in places where they like. Ichiro and Honami recorded at their home studio. Takeshi chose under the highway for his recording studio. I also recorded piano in my studio by myself and did mix. I'll keep releasing my music on bandcamp first.

"The 2nd session" is a version has no clap. "Beats Dub" has no instruments other than beats.

現在コロナの影響で都内のスタジオの多くが閉鎖になっています。またかなりの密閉空間ともなるのでなかなか集まってレコーディングをすることが困難です。しかしそこで音楽制作を諦めてストップするのではなく、何かそこを逆手に取り普段出来ない事をやってみようと思い作った曲です。ベースの藤谷さん、パーカッションの木川保奈美ちゃんは自宅で、僕も自宅スタジオでピアノやその他色々を録音。驚くのはサックス＆フルートの栗原くん。なんと高速道路のような場所の下で録音してきてくれました！でも、すごくちゃんと録音されていて驚きました。通常はエンジニアさんにお願いをするミックス作業も今回は自分で行ってみました。3ヴァージョン収録されています。

We're going a little off piste with something new on SB this week... We welcome returning mad scientist Scruscru with his buddy Mike Fot who came to us with the beginnings of a weird and wonderful new off shoot series called Spliff Jamz. 

Following a series of visits to Moscow between 2018 and 2020 to play at Powerhouse club, Scruscru would swing by Mike Fot’s apartment for a smoke and a jam session, working with a variety of Roland and Korg gear late into the night. The results of these sessions have led to a series of EPs; with the first four tracks ready for your ears right now.

Photay’s “All That I Need (Remix)” brilliantly sets the tone. Anchored by an irresistibly syncopated percussive line, it accumulates perfectly placed rhythmic layers and accents, then drops in Cesar and sister Sharin Toribio’s sparse vocals amidst touches of haunting modulating organ and Bernie Worrell-esque synth squeals, all while largely dispensing with traditional basslines. It’s an intoxicatingly moody (re-)arrangement, reflective of Photay’s uncanny ability to generate momentum and evoke stillness at once. And it’s reprised in a more stripped down iteration for his lovely Photay Lullaby Remix, which dials back the percussion and plays up a simple thumb piano melody from the song’s beautifully bridge for maximum emotional resonance.
