After one and a half decade and more than 450 releases, Compost Records bundles some of their finest tunes as Various Artists digital download compilation albums. The variety and full spectrum of Compost’s repertoire has never or rarely been presented in form of a musical genre compilation. These releases will be compiled or DJ-mixed by Compost’s artists and are available as digital downloads, except in some rare cases very very limited as 500 CDs.

For this selection, our label mate Eddy Ramich (Eddy Meets Yannah) dug in the Compost archive for the finest Broken Beat and NuJazz gems from almost forgotten times. Big names like Moonstarr, Domu, Seiji or Alex Attias mark the highlights, but also Compost classics from the likes of Kyoto Jazz Massive, Beanfield, Voom:Voom (project by Peter Kruder, Christian Prommer & Roland Appel) are represented. Eduardo Rafael Da Cruz Ferreira - editor of the magazine FAZEmag - early devoted himself to electronic music. His graceful and melancholic interpretation of deep house he quickly made a name for himself in numerous clubs from Cologne, over Hamburg to Berlin and at festivals like PollerWiesen, RaveOnSnow, Utopia Island and Nature One. With "Right To Love" he started running his own night in Cologne's most famous Club called Gewölbe, where he presents acts like Maceo Plex, Mario Basanov, Ten Walls, Deniz Kurtel, Miguel Campbell, H.O.S.H. or PillowTalk in a very exclusive atmosphere.

We're delighted to welcome back Amount, aka Nayan Soukie, to Darkroom Dubs as he returns with four subterranean throbbers that effervesce with trance-inducing lawlessness. 

A Darkroom Dubs favourite who first debuted in 2013 as one-half of house-combo Soukie & Windish. Since then, he's flourished as a renowned producer, DJ, and seasoned live performer, developing a penchant for sleazy burners primed for the darkest of rooms and those hazy, sunrise-lit, after-hours moments. 

This latest offering from the Berlin native, entitled Zeroton, is an essential addition to an already impressive back catalogue, with appearances on imprints such as Feines Tier, Running Back, Frank Music and his own URSL label.

Info: Discover one of the last US cult bands from the creative early Eighties disco and post punk period. Indoor Life - an undisputed delight blend of rock, new wave and hypnotic grooves, at that time often compared and collated with Tuxedomoon. Their first EP from 1980 was recorded by the legendary producer Patrick Cowley.

On two CDs, Elaste Records and Compost “Curated” Records releasing the complete Indoor Life catalogue, digitalised, re-mastered from original reels or vinyl, plus previously unreleased bonus tracks and remixes by Soft Rocks, Quaid, Mathias Schaffhäuser, Discodromo a.o. More remixes will be following on vinyl. The artwork of CD and poster were designed by Thomas Elsner, formerly, in conjunction with Michael Reinboth, founder and publisher of the legendary magazine “Elaste” (1980-1985). The 2CD containing a poster with photos, quotes and linernotes by Thomas Meinecke (FSK /Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle), Bruce Geduldig (Tuxedomoon), Jon Hassell (Fourth World), Stuart Matthewman (Sade), Finn Johansson (Macro Recordings), Mike Thorne (producer for Wire, Soft Cell, Nina Hagen, Bronski Beat, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Laurie Anderson a.m.o.).

J.A. Deane composes, performs, conducts and produces electronic music, collaborating as well as touring with such diverse pioneering musicians as Jon Jon Hassel, Butch Morris, John Zorn, and Tim Motzer. Bob Hoffnar focuses his musicianship on playing steel guitar, performing, composing, recording and touring both solo and in collaboration, and appearing as a guest in various bands. His unique improvisational approach to pedalsteel explores the parameters of popular song, blurring distinctions between genres in unexpected ways. (bobhoffnar.net) 

Joeseph Sabella plays vibes, marimba, wavedrum, and ipad – in lieu of traditional drums, and mostly in the service of electronic music. He plays together with J.A. Deane as the DJ Duo and in Deane’s improvisational orchestra, Out of Context, spending a good part of his remaining time cooking.

Jorge Socarras has newly recorded with DJ/Producer Mathias Schaffhäuser as electronica duo Fanatico, and as guest vocalist with the group Soft Rocks. His early Catholic recordings with synthesizer maestro Patrick Cowley were released on Macro in 2009. Socarras writes on the arts, and has completed three books of fiction, and havin his first novel published, called "The Immortal's Last Breath" a horror-fantasy about a 3,500-year-old Tantric vampire in India. A sophisticated little bastard of a DJ-mix

It’s about time for the fifth instalment of the Compost Black Label Series – unveiling some of the finest cuts in the label’s recent history in a versatile DJ mix crafted by Compost family member Thomas Herb, who built a strong reputation as a DJ when it’s about merging soul-injected house, techno and disco into a musical journey. Featuring winner tunes and remixes by Phreek Plus One, Osunlade, Woolfy, DJ T. or Rainer Trueby, Herb is also highlighting the work of new breed like Emil Seidel, Philipp Stoya and Emilie Nana, who all contributed high-quality tunes on the Black Label within the last year. Playing on top of the game since about one and a half decades, the Bob Beaman resident DJ, holding a steadily growing national and international schedule, is kicking things off with some proper nu-school vibes until he smoothly blends to balearic and disco influenced territories – then somehow he’s already in the middle of Holland Tunnel, the New Jersey styled tune by Muallem, opening our minds eye for the glittering skyline of Manhattan and our ears for this music called house - unfolding its purest grooves and energy within the mix. Keeping up the level, Thomas Herb subsequently heading the ship towards a middle west inspired direction, throwing in some decent rave signals without loosing his fluent, elegant style he carefully morphs into a old school Chicago vibe! The set is closing with Lukas Bohlender’s beautiful stringloaden emo-houser Club Chateâu. Apart from storytelling, quality and programming the tunes itself, Thomas Herb unmistakably put some extra focus on adding this kind of warm, handcrafted, dynamic live-vibe – and he succeeds big time with this sophisticated little bastard of a DJ-mix.

With Compost Records head honcho Michael Reinboth, Thomas Herb co-hosted the Compost Black Label Sessions clubnights held at Harry Klein and later at Bob Beaman for the last four years – sharing the decks with the likes of Jerome Sydenham, Deetron, Jay Shepheard, Osunlade, Agnés, John Talabot, Willie Graff, Kalabrese, Karizma, Heidi, Permanent Vacation, Move D & Thomas Meinecke, DJ T., Nuno Dos Santos and many more. With SHOW-B he’s teaming up for some well recieved productions and remixes from time to time – these smart guys also hosting the weekly radioshow Compost Black Label Sessions, which has been set up in order to spread the vibe of the label and correspondent clubnight to a wider audience.
