OLDERIC from Venice makes his debut on Compost Black with this magnificent Alma EP. A strong peak-time package, rounded off by lush remixes by Christian Prommer and Musumeci.
Vinyl collector, producer and resident DJ of CIRQ (one of the most influent underground club in Italy) Olderic is the man behind this fascinating EP 'Alma'. The A side is opened by the title track, which is nothing less than a banger built on purpose to create magic and panic on the dance floor. The dramatic melody break will take you on a journey, the gentle but effective bass and rhythmic patterns combination will shake your senses bringing you back to reality. On the same side Alma receive first class remix treatment by the drum master Christian Prommer who turns the original into a single breath race thanks to an irresistible rhythmical sequence arranged around the anthemic layers of the song. On the B side there is space for the intriguing interlaces and pulsating beats of 'Oasis', a luscious track with a sensual and misterious atmosphere that find emphasis on the remix by Engrave Ltd head Musumeci, who adds his own combination of twisted arpeggios and an outrageous bass line. On top of this already oversized bunch of tunes you will find an extra Christian Prommer Stripped Remix of 'Alma' digitally exclusive. Olderic’s debut on Compost Black Label is definitively an entrance in style!

Berlin act GHEIST have made a huge impression since releasing their debut record on Exploited in 2016. Now with regular appearances at Watergate and various summer festival gigs under their belts, three releases on Exploited and a couple with Sasha’s Last Night On Earth as well as a collaboration with HOSH ('The Watergate Affairs'), they are poised as one of the most promising acts of the current wave. This mesmerising new three-track EP only serves to strengthen their claim. 

'Axelot' begins by way of thuddy kicks knocking against the slightest of bleeps and gently techy percussion, with a slow-rising, muffled synth arpeggio teasing its way into life as the claps join in. Over the course of nine hypnotic minutes, we ebb and flow with the tracks subtle intricacies, a dramatic mood gently building. A mind-bending arp blurs the focus in the breakdown before we charge headlong back into the throbbing depths of the track.

'Kolibri' builds in similarly unhurried fashion, with bolder melodic focus that yields graceful strings, emotive chord patterns and some sublime delayed plucked refrains that take the essence of trancey emotion and boil it down to a sophisticated reduction. Just as the swells threaten to take the track into a frenzied crescendo, things are pulled back to keep the tension intact. Classy stuff. 

'Time' completes this sublime package by way of swirling chimes, throbbing monotone bass and analog bleeps, building up a heady wall of sound before a trademark GHEIST vocal lifts the track into unchartered territory. The sombre tone recalls Depeche Mode, and the idea to use the vocal in the breakdown alone only gives it more impact. It’s also a reminder that this trio bring an element of live electronica and instrumentation to their studio sessions.

Teaming up for their first joint venture single on Hive Audio are Dario D'Attis & Definition – two well and long time established Swiss producers catering nothing but quality with their „So Long EP“ featuring two of their own takes on the original cut plus fresh remixes crafted by SOAME and Solok.

With the original version of „So Long“ we see Dario D'Attis & Definition combine a heavy, slightly metallic pump with calm, ever floating string waves, a spiralling space synth and dreamy, longing vocals for a sweet late night ride, crossing borders between quality TechHouse and obvious TechTrance-influences.

At second, Dario D'Attis & Definition are presenting their own rework of „So Long“ with the 'Stripped Down Dub' which is providing a slightly rougher take on production and mixdown yet still is living up to the qualities of the original cut for sure.

On a remix tip for „So Long“ is Swiss fellow SOAME who's been rocking floors with his recently released „Sun EP feat. Jinadu“ on Hive Audio in the past months. His take on the original track is clearly aiming at buzzing peaktime crowds, employing a more muscular approach and providing a sweet ravey touch to the tunes' arrangement with the addition of morphing, yet slightly off kilter stab sequences alongside a masterly crafted ebb-and-flow of melodic modulations.

The last track & the second remix for „So Long“ is provided by the Zurich-based production team active under the name of Solok. The pair is catering a hefty, on point recut emphasizing on the originals TechTrance qualities,bringing forth a thrilling monster of a tune that will infuse floating happyness and ecstatic joy into punters brains whenever played out to a heaving floor.
