Info: After one and a half decade and more than 400 releases, Compost Records bundles some of their finest tunes as Various Artists digital download compilation albums. The variety and full spectrum of Compost’s repertoire has never or rarely been presented in form of a musical genre compilation. These releases will be compiled or DJ-mixed by Compost’s artists and are available as digital downloads, except in some rare cases very very limited as 500 CDs.

Ever since the beginning of electronic music the voice was considered an instrument that shouldn’t be forgotten. So when everybody considered the beats and the bass as the King, there was still love for vocals. Sometimes to create an atmosphere of tribalism with its own mantras, sometimes as a work of poetry. But always present.

From the depths of the Compost vaults vocal tracks were selected and mixed by Rupert & Mennert. Compost and Rupert & Mennert are more than proud to present two shining examples of all the great songs that were sung and produced in the last two decades.

Could one say that this particular ‘Compost Selection’ defines a genre? Well... not entirely. Do all the great vocalists that sang on an immense amount of Compost releases deserve their own spotlight? Well... hell yes!

The first take has the appropriate sub-title: Brothers.

On this very compilation, fourteen tracks are selected and mixed together. With vocal contributions by Robert Owens, Victor Davies, Colonel Red, Marc Frank, Joseph Malik, Ovasoul 7, Jamie Lloyd, Ernesto and many more. The tracks will go back and forth through all kinds of genres. From the deep folk electronic of Zwicker , the latin-jazz by Intuit and the spoken word by General Electrics to the beats by Wagon Cookin’, Daniel Magg, Phreek Plus One and TJ Kong & Nuno dos Santos. Giving you post broken beats by Beanfield and Kyoto Jazz Massive. Ending with some classic crooning from Les Gammas and funky soul by Muallem and Alex Attias.

So let the brothers of Compost be your guide through their musical landscape!

In the face of war and uncertainty, artists Amas and Konstantin Kost present "Odessa," an EP that transcends boundaries and captures the essence of human perseverance. "Red Glow" (ft. Tanya) opens the EP with a haunting repetition of "LOVE" and "FEAR," encapsulating the daily reality of living in a war-torn city. "Nightcall" guides us through the darkness, its rhythmic refrain "through the night" symbolizing hope and endurance. "Old Kings," inspired by Percy Bysshe Shelley's "Ozymandias," critiques the enduring power of oppressive leaders, while "Talk to God" features Konstantin Kost reading from Taras Shevchenko's poignant poem "A Cloud Floating Behind the Sun," evoking a longing for peace and harmony.

Despite never meeting in person, Amas and Konstantin Kost have forged a powerful connection through their music. Later, he focused on Psychedelic Trance. For the last 20 years, he has concentrated on Techno, Progressive House and Dub Techno. And finally, he started producing himself Dub Techno and Hypnotic Techno 2 years ago.

Born at the turn of the century, Ray carted his gramophone from venue to venue playing music in exchange for rum and gruel. Fast forward 100 years and not much has changed. Along with DJing, he has been known to put on parties, knock out a few beats and review / test questionable food stuffs.

Ray hopes this mix transports you to sitting on benches outside a bar in Berlin. It's late but people are making their way to the clubs and some are making their way home. You've spent all day at the lake and things are just picking up. The drinks are cold and then night is warm and this is the music in the background...the perfect soundtrack.

Clive From Accounts is finally back on Dirt Crew Recordings! After some excellent contributions and remixes for the highly acclaimed New York based “Razor-N-Tape” imprint, he graced us again with three new gems that show the great diversity in his productions. Since his first “Cooking the Books EP” in 2021 and the follow up “Pearls EP” in 2022 he has continued to build a strong following of fans, so we know for sure a lot of you have been waiting on new tracks by him.

The uplifting opener “That Rhythm” is a smooth deep house roller with chopped up dusty samples, inspired by the US and French masters but with a heavy UK sub bass added. Following up is the wonderfully crafted “Maceo”, a groovy instrumental jazz funk workout built around the genius of The JBs legends Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker. 

Closing out this new EP is the acid laden and also title track “Clive by Night”, deep and lush house music that we love him for since his first release on our label, here he’s finding joy in deep evolving repetition, it’s an ode to the 303 and Xpander. Best played at night. 

Get in these 3 new hitters from Clive now, we are looking forward to hear these played out in dark clubs and wide open fields this late summer and golden fall. Enjoy!
