October 2013 will see the reissue of 26-year old American composer Peter Broderick's 2008 debut album Float. Returning to his home in Oregon, where his musical journey began, Peter completes the circle with the release of Float 2013. Remastered by the gifted hands of Nils Frahm, Float 2013 will also include two additional bonus tracks with each album download and will be reissued on CD, vinyl, digital and even on a limited edition cassette via Erased Tapes. The album release will also be accompanied by Float 2013 Addendum, a 7” single featuring ‘Something Has Changed’ re-arranged as a duet for violin and viola, with the new title ‘Something Has Remained’.

Brought up in a musical household in Oregon, Peter quickly became a popular session musician for the likes of M. Ward in the Portland area. Later discovered by the Danish band Efterklang he joined their live band and spent the next six years based in Europe where he collaborated with many like-minded contemporaries. Through relentless touring, multiple album recordings and film scores Peter has established himself as a solo artist, known for his innate gift as a musical medium to picking up any instrument, turning his musings into poignant songs.

Having previously released ‘Ten Duets‘ on cassette tape, Peter is a big fan of this format and is excited to be taking part in Cassette Store Day on September 7th 2013. Float 2013 will be available in store in a hand numbered limited edition of purple cassettes in bespoke packaging. ’A dialogue was started with Robert, about the idea of one day giving Float a second chance. And a bit later I found myself in the studio of my dear friend Nils, remastering these songs which on one hand felt so far away, but on the other felt right at the core of my musical heart, the foundation of my aspirations as a musician. And what Nils did to the sound, how he worked his magic as he always does, filled me with the conviction that this project had not previously reached its potential. In so many ways I've found myself coming around the circle, back to the place I started, only perhaps the circle itself has moved. But the dream is the same. Following last year's debut album on Studio Barnhus and a series of collaborations with longtime partner in crime Mr. Tophat, Swedish producer @art-alfie lands on @toytonics next week with 'The Bo Allan EP', home to three of his sweetest bangers to date!

Our pick is the remix from fellow Stockholm duo @mountliberationunlimited, fresh from their recent EP release on Permanent Vacation. Their 'Ethereal Teen Dream Version' of lead track 'Downstreamed' is... well, let's just say the title is pretty apt. Flirting with transcendence but remaining tethered to the ground, the duo create a vibrant patchwork of shimmering chords.

Born in 1983 in Liège, Belgium, Maxime Firket grew up surrounded by music. He studied music theory and classical music at the Academy and did not choose the easy route by opting to study the cello. "A demanding and monodic instrument which forces you to find the right sound and the right note to make yourself heard. My cello background is still useful to me today." As an adolescent, he dreamt of playing in a rock group, but also discovered Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Front 242 and Detroit techno. After having created his own studio and put together a few mixes on a Roland Compuphonic synthesiser (yes, that’s where the name comes from...), Maxime soon found himself behind the decks at Dirty Dancing nights in Brussels and recorded his first tracks for Dirty Dancing Recordings. In 2006, his reputation exploded on the dance floor with the groovy "Emotion", produced in collaboration with Tiga and released on his label ‘Turbo Recordings’.
 
Compuphonic’s dedication and elaborateness delivers spontaneous productions of hedonistic house. Natural, open to large spaces, ambitious but always accessible. Handling music as the art form it is. Alternating complicated with simple pieces, electronic with organic, light with dark, ease with emotional, celebration with pondering. Telling a different, but in its way even more exciting new tale, time and time again.
 
His underground hit “Sunset” ft Marques Toliver reached over 10 000 000 views (and counting) on YouTube and got support on BBC Radio 1 by Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Rob Da Bank and key media / blogs.
 
More recently his releases ’Radio Atlantis’ and ‘The Sun Does Rise’ on Berlin’s  super label Exploited Records  have picked up great support by radio stations and bloggers worldwide and after playing shows at Pukkelpop, Dour Festival, Eurosonic, SXSW, Sonar Festival, Monegros,, he's set to become one of Europe's best known too.
