The first hour of my DJ set at Bleep43 on December 3rd was a tribute to Peter Christopherson, who died on November 25th.
I chose tracks that either featured his voice, or that I especially connected with him.

Many people have asked me about the set and if it was recorded, so I've decided to make it available.

Recorded at Corsica Studios, London, between 11pm and Midnight on December 3rd, 2010.

Wasted Brain: Hatchback Sessions 1999-2009

It's something of a personal milestone to welcome Colors of the Sun to vinyl, so to celebrate the occasion, I dug into the archive to make a mix of unreleased material from the years leading up to and slightly beyond my first album. It means a lot to me that the Dream Chimney is hosting this mix, because the only place these tracks really ever existed outside of my iPod was on Track of the Day. It was really The Dream Chimney community, particularly Ryan Chimney and Clunkified (hugest thanks Sentrall), that kicked my jams off of the internet and onto a record. Also it wouldn't been possible without the creative support of so many other Chimneys, especially Sorcerer, Elf, Carousel, Electronimo, and Home Chime. You guys are all kind buddies forever. Putting this together brought back a lot of sweet memories of my days in the Bay Area, in particular that sun-baked apartment in the trees above Lake Merritt. These tracks have likely remained unreleased for good reason, but I hope its worth a listen for old times sake.

Mix of the Week #76: Hatchback - Wasted Brain (Hatchback Sessions 1999 - 2009)

Solid Steel in association with Serato (9th October) Iranian producer Ash Koosha is our guest in Hour 1, who gained a lot of attention from Pitchfork following his debit album GUUD released earlier this year. After being jailed in 2007 for putting on concerts in Iran, he moved to London and now produces beautiful and intricate electronic music and we're delighted to have a mix from him this week. He told us;

"The 60 minutes i put togher for Solid Steel is focused on the idea of Human vs Machine and the Machine as a Bio-mechanical entity, in other words the future "us". 
The idea of a Transhumanist world inspired me to mix from folky Bulgarian choir to the "Living-Machine" sounds of Leila Arab and Brood Ma. The engagement of classical music with the future of sound.
Putting the two poles together resulted in a new sonic spectrum where the value of frequency is above source of sound."

Alexey Volkov began his musical career as a techno DJ in Saint Petersburg and is heavily influenced by early synth music and the sounds of artists such as Nitzer Ebb, Daniel Miller, Robert Görl and everybody’s favourite Dark Lord of the Dance, Regis. Volkov has been producing industrial and EBM influenced techno for several years with four E.Ps being released on Terrence Fixmer’s Planate Rouge label, a fifth record has just come out on Jealous God. Volkov lays down a threatening, disorientating mix for us here strewn with raw punk brain bombs, twisted samples, musique concréte and confronting ideas. Happy in its deviancy this is midnight music for the black hour, you’re a long long way from VIP lounges and Ibiza here baby.

TX Connect - Industrial Massacre Mix for Computer Controlled Radio Show

A Frenchman called Tomas More once lived in Londres. During the 00s he met up with a friend named Danton Eeprom and began hosting parties that city’s infamous T Bar where they invited French DJs such as Jennifer Cardini and Chlóe to play alongside British luminaries like Andrew Weatherall. A little later More & Eeprom began ‘Foundation Black Thursday’ at that venerable Parisian institution the Rex Club, hosting artists such as Jamie Jones and Maetrik. And then growing in confidence More realised he was bored and needed to escape his comfort zone and engage in a new means to realise himself and the nom-de-guerre December was born, an alter-ego facilitating exploration of the darker aspects of his art. Marked by confrontation December takes cues from French cold wave bands and techno artists such as Finland’s Pan Sonic and early Autechre. December stares deep between the cracks and coaxes out the little dark things that lie therein, producing a dark, multi-layered mix, hanging between ambient and techno and pierced through with the angst and loss and fire of punk and no wave music.
