I wanted to do something different for this night, so I experimented with a new approach to my preparation, organising playlists with tracks by what kind of sound design and moods they contain, and putting them within folders that indicated the general intensity in order to slowly ramp up the tension. This groundwork allowed me to prepare an arc for a deep set where I could make long layered mixes while maintaining the groove, speed and improvisation I consider to be recognizable features of when I DJ in a club.

Although this set also sustains a steady groove and flow, it is still a departure from my usual, more instinctive way of playing, where I tend to switch more impulsively between styles and themes, mixing tracks that have pronounced rhythmic elements with tracks that have very memorable basslines and hooks, especially from earlier decades, call it old school, 90s, 00s, retro or outdated if you want. I do this in order to keep a sense of playfulness and unpredictability going (fu n）with selections that have a distinct character.

This set was more about consistency, atmosphere and subtle transitions. The aim was to have the music slowly progress over the course of the set but without it becoming a static affair. This is why I completely avoid looping tracks, as I want their sounds to continuously evolve, and the phrasing in their structure to be continuously accentuated throughout the mix. 

It might not sound quite like what you would expect from a Comrade Winston DJ set, but I actually had a lot of fun constantly keeping two tracks in the mix while preparing for the third to take over, slowly stacking upon the current mood instead of rapidly switching between different ones. Prefering not to rely on the element of surprise but rather slowly reach a boiling point and to enjoy the ride.

He is characterized by its hypnotic, mental, and groovy sounds, looking for an atmosphere with versatile sounds, broadcasting a unique musical selection.

Co Owner of Dark Techno Collective, a project with which, started in Denver, in December 2019; to continue it in his hometown. Today the collective has been positioning itself in the development of events, and its D ∆ R K SESSIONS podcast.

His music is influenced by artists such as: Luke Slater, Cari Lekebusch, The Advent, Ben Sims and by the new wave of artists such as Temudo, Rene Wise, Vladimir Dubishkyn, Arthur Robert, Arkan, Marrón, among others. 

He has had the opportunity to share the booth with artists such as Chlär, David Meiser, Developer, Rene Wise, Deraout, Kriss Salaz, Juli Monsalve, Arzax, Räme, and others.
