Ketikoti translated from sranan tongo to english is broken chain and manspasi dey means emancipation day. A surinamese annual celebration on July 1st each year. 

July 1st 1863 (officially 1873) is when slavery was abolished in Surinam. A day where freedom of our ancestors was finally realized. Those who have suffered so much for us to live free now. 

Freedom and peace is something we kindly consider normal but even now in 2022 we have modern slavery of the uyguhrs in China. Thousands of migrant workers dead in Qatar for the world championship of football, Palestina who suffer from apartheid until this day and war in Ukraine which all of a sudden came really close. 

Freedom is something we are blessed with. We should not take this for granted and enjoy life as much as possible. Be kind and good to people around you, it might be a small thing for you to do but it can mean SO MUCH for others.

SHE/HER is a 21 year old techno DJ based in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. SHE/HER started djing about three years ago, during the lockdown. For this reason she felt inspired by various Dutch illegal and underground rave communities. When she first started playing techno, she had a love for hard kicks and trancy tracks. Nowadays her sound has shifted into a blend of harder sounds and groovy rhythms. At the moment SHE/HER is a resident at Artdictive, a FLINTA* DJ collective from Amsterdam and has played at several venues like Club Atelier and Radion in Amsterdam and club BASIS in Utrecht. SHE/HER is eager to learn and be inspired more by the beautiful techno scene.
