Mixed by Brussels based DJ and founder of Crevette Records, Alfred Anders (Pim Thomas), we are exited to present you with our third instalment of Discrete Circuits. 

Pim’s love for music and sound quality through vinyl and rotary mixers has lead him to founding the record store and now come label of the same name, which aims to push local talent. Just like Pim’s taste, the first release (CREV001) by Brussels duo Vitesse, is a killer on both sides and oozes the 80s goodness that you can’t help but love.

It's been a long time in the making, but we've finally tracked him down! One of Australia's busiest and hardest working DJs, promoter, label owner, booker and all round devoted music lover, Crown Ruler's Jimi Dawg (Jamie Bennett) has taken some time aside to deliver some soulful selections for August's edition of Discrete Circuits.

Jamie's work behind Crown Ruler has been an integral part of the Australian music scene from running parties and festivals like Freedom Time to collaborating with Red Bull Music Academy and booking legendary acts like Larry Heard, Theo Parrish, Roy Ayers and countless others.

Crown Ruler has recently established a record label with their first release being a top seller at all record stores, Boiler Rooms, festivals, parties, you name it! Word has it that they've got plenty more to come, so please do keep your eyes on Crown Ruler and Jamie Bennett!

Alrighty, it's been more than a minute since our last Discrete Circuits, but for good reason...... trying to keep on top of our builds as well as get some new designs underway ;)

We are absolutely thrilled to have the lady behind Hello Sailor, Renata Do Valle onboard with a top-notch selection! 

Record label Hello Sailor opened its doors in 2014 and has since put out five solid releases featuring works from the likes of Joakim, Selvagem, Esa, Fatnotronic & Joutro Mundo, and Tom Noble. Up next for Renata and her label is a super exciting 12" compilation to be released early next year. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that!

Gilles Peterson presents a very special 3-hour mix dedicated to the recently departed trumpeter Roy Hargrove.

A prodigious talent whose star rose in the early 1990s, Roy Hargrove recorded and performed with a whole host of artists including Erykah Badu, Common, D'Angelo, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Jackie McLean and Oscar Peterson.

Roy Hargrove's life mission was the to spread the jazz message and succeeded. He departed on 2nd November 2018 at the age of 49, and Gilles Peterson pays a special tribute to the talents of the man with a 3-hour mix exploring the sounds that he brought to the world.

"2018 was a turning point in my 20-year love affair with Brasilian music, starting with the release of my reworks compilation Férias ’77 on Razor-N-Tape, and culminating in my recent trip to the Mareh Festival. Aside from being one of the gig highlights of my career - on a boat full of joyful dancers - the whole experience really deepened my feeling for the unique culture and music of Brasil. I came home buzzing, and ran this mix off in one shot without much planning, using some vinyl, some digital, some edits, and some originals. I hope that joy comes through in the music!"

Renata Do Valle (@hellosailornyc) was born on an idyllic island in the south of Brazil but is now based in Brooklyn, New York. Her vast music collection reflects the heritage of both places but largely draws on Brazilian sounds, be that samba, MPB, electro or soul. She also expertly curates her own Hello Sailor label and has a knack for transporting you from Brooklyn to Bahia and back again whenever she plays one of her expressive and eclectic sets.

This week's colourful selection is one packed with familiar cornerstones like electro, disco and house, but all reimagined through a Latin lens and served up with plenty of South American flair. Joining the dots between the old and the new, the classic and the unknown, it's a steamy and sunny mix that is perfect for parties inside, outside, online or in your headphones. It's such a sweet and full flavour mix that when it's playing you can almost taste the caipirinhas on your lips.
