SK FUNK has been professionally rocking crowds since 2009 in the mother city of Cape Town. This multi talented individual is a musical Connoisseur who has been hypnotizing and masmarising dance floors in the past decade. He has recorded under his DJ name SK FUNK , chiefly as well under his Alice TANTRASTREZ, in collaboration with other several artists.
Born in Cape Town Province, as DJ he managed to set himself a firm and solid music foundation in Cape Town, underground music scene. Born in late 90’s at an early age he develop a vast music knowledge, at that era it was 45bpm Compilation music collection from Soul Candi, House Africa, Hearvy D Crew, just to name the few, with likes of Frankie Knuckles, Kerry Chandler, Teddy Douglas, Vick Lavender, Loui Vega, Ian Poley, Julian Jabre, Mood ll Swing, Nick Holder, Hurly amp Muscle, Mysterious People, Steve Bug, just to name the few. SK FUNK emerge in underground music scene at the age of 16 as well as in DJ Landscape indulging into new pioneer world of mixing techniques.
SK FUNK has began his music career as DJ performing at Birthday parties, School functions, Cultural functions, and Taverns and some local events in the Townships and surrounding neighborhoods all around Cape Town and Cape Winelands, and Eastern Cape Province. By the age of 18 he has worked his way up to Cape Town club scene as guest DJ is several vanues, and some of the city’s premium dance Clubs and Bars, Hotels, Wich earned him to hold residences as DJ at some of the finest prestigious clubs like, Coco Gold Bar, club ZAR, Julep & Tapas, Bugdad café, 169 Havanna Cocktail Bar, Inner City, Taj Hotel the Twinkey Bar, Protea Hotel fire & ice, Kings Hotel the Ceegar Bar, Nomadic & Brisco, Bru Bar, Sky Lounge, Club 89, Waiting Room, Olymp sport Bar, KBS Festival, Cape Town Television ( CTV ) guest DJ live set, Hectic 99 0n ( SABC 2 ) TV live set as guest DJ.
SK FUNK has open up and perform alongside and share stage with some of the well known International artist’s like, Gold Fish , Freshly Ground , Euphonic , DJ Fresh , Vinny Da Vinci , Mo Flava , Mono T , Shimza DJ C'ndo , Lulo Café , Cueber , DJ Bubbles , Dino Moran , DJ Marlin , DJ Sbu , Simbat , Paul Syndrome Floyd Lavine , Tonijah, Alex Kidd , Dino Bravo , Ben Rau , Charles Webster , DJ Clock , DJ QT , DJ Bongz, among many other great local South African DJ’s and Producers.
Slowly and gradually his passion and commitment, to his work built up an interest in creating and producing Electronic Music as endeavour, and he started to build his own studio, and to develop his own massive fanatically chiefly with Deep pulsing melodies, lushy swampy ambience and prevailing sonic Organic wraith like experiments constructing a power pack active meditation sessions for the mind and soul that can chiefly describes SK FUNK musical style and taste as phenomenal.
SK FUNK is very dedicated and passionate at what he does, and consider DJing and producing music both as a form of Art and serious technical craft, wich is why he always tries to explore new sounds and emotions to create a voyage in which sound is maneuvered to generate an overwhelming transcendent environment wich can take the people on a beautiful journey of life. SK FUNK conveys a new approach and message in the electronic music scene and reflects the vast escalation in the world wide popularity with one of kind distinctive touch.
