The latest release welcomes XSPANCE from the United Kingdom back to the label with the remixes for his previously released "Harmonic Freefall EP". Day Out Of Time, Obsessional Rhythm, Nic Rinaldi and Santiago Rossi got invited to do a remix. Founded in 2020 Future Avenue is an electronic music imprint which operates under the Sound Avenue umbrella. Sitting alongside fellow subdivisions 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds, Future Avenue looks to provide a home for new and rising talent. With an ethos centred around progressive music and its surrounding derivatives, the label is a platform which gives up and coming artists a chance to showcase their music alongside established veterans as they carve out their own musical identity.

With that in mind, opening track 'That Time I Nanoadapted Into A Cat God ('And Now My Soul's Stuck In The Holomatrix' Mix) is a mind-expanding affair with glitchy claps, double-time techno drums and spooky vocals pacing about the mix. It is hugely cinematic and adventurous. The second track is darker, with a skeletal rhythm pulling away beneath off-grid hits and claps, razor-sharp hi-hats and pent-up energy that locks you in.

German artist Meyer is in a fantastic run of form right now. This is his third single of the year and another one that shows off great studio craftsmanship. It draws on his skills as an audio sculptor, master of melody and someone who brings his live skills to his improvised grooves. The deft 'Could Not Exist' is a twitchy tech house track with lithe synth sounds and nimble drums. There is a sense of doom in the bold bass notes that is softened by some exquisite strings. Spoken words bring philosophical overtones and when the drums drop again you're carried away into a cosmic world. The instrumental version pairs things back to allow more focus on the rich sound design and inventive rhythm. Remixer Hanna Haïs has been touring the world as a DJ since 2007. Her productions on labels like Atal and Nite Grooves have been supported by the likes of Black Coffee and with this remix, she impresses once more. It has an epic breakdown that builds plenty of tension and atmosphere before big drums drive onwards beneath a nebulous world of synth details.

Way of the Drum is a globe-walking rhythm record built almost entirely from drums and percussion, with only a few carefully chosen exceptions. Each track drops into a different circle: underground ritual pulses, marching snare on a broken battlefield line, rain-soaked forest grooves, desert caravans, and a towering taiko ceremony at the red gate.

The album moves between intimate and massive spaces—a smoky jazz club where drums and bass trade sparks, metallic found-object rhythms that clang like machinery, and mountain vigils where low drums roll like distant thunder. Melodies stay minimal or absent; the focus is on groove, texture, and how many ways skin, wood and metal can speak. By the closing heartbeat of Last Light on the Rim, the whole record feels like one long, shared initiation into rhythm.
