Time is passing way too fast. It is unbelievable that five years have already gone by since label head BOHO founded Jannowitz Records back in 2014.

We look back on five years full of constant growth, of ups and downs, of good music and even better music. Five years of Jannowitz Records with releases between house and techno, with big names and local artists, with new friends and old companions - with your beloved underground sound!

The label took two opportunities to celebrate its birthday in 2019. Two opportunities to showcase the diverse sound of what the label beholds: the "Alive & Death" compilations.

“Alive EP” is the part of the birthday compilation that focuses on a more minimal sound than its brother Death.

Graham Webb aka Webby from the UK likes to describe his style as “dark bouncy” - but for “Alive” he made a very straightforward and evil dance floor machine called “The Hive”.

This month's release marks the start of what you could call a new era at Jannowitz Records. Over the last few months and even years it has been our concept to showcase original tracks and remixes on most EPs. But things change. And there is so much good original content out there that we thought to ourselves: The world needs to see this. With this EP we introduce the new Jannowitz split releases two tracks by two artists each and that's it. 

This very first one being brought to you by two buddies uber producers SILES and Raul Facio. By now you should be familiar with the latter. Raul broke through on Jannowitz Records with his Cid Cid EP a release that was remixed by Italian powerhouse Mr. Bizz.

Raul Facio's sound is more driving with rolling basslines underneath his tracks Strat and Atomized. Both build up nicely towards breaks in their seconds thirds which feel like a climax releasing its full energy with a spectacular drop. Strat and Atomized are similarly percussion-heavy and well-produced but completely different with the Mexican's personal touch to it. All four tracks work perfectly together making our first split EP Tombstone a very exciting peek into the next steps of Jannowitz Records.

Senso Sounds Level 08 introduces four new tracks by rising stars that hone in on that special vibe Senso has become synonymous with. First up is Mehmet Özbek, the DJ/Producer from Istanbul. 
Having garnered support from some of the biggest names in the scene, Özbek showcases why he’s held in such high regard - 'Milky Way' is a trippy, firing techno cut that combines subtlety and power in equal measures. 
Likewise, Eme Kulhnek provides a fierce track full of energy and precision. 
'Infinite' highlights why the Argentinian producer has been championed by the likes of Richie Hawtin - a stripped down sound that remains full of detail. 
SEQU3L’s 'Frisbee' is also a track bursting with ideas and passion - its infectious groove hits home from the outset and develops into a true techno roller. 
Hamburg’s own Mørk & Julien Riess complete the quartet of tracks, presenting 'Red Spade' as their contribution. It’s a tightly coiled, trippy techno cut that builds to fever pitch over the course of its
duration.
