We launch the Lobster Theremin Podcast series with a very special live set from long-time family member and Hungarian battle-lobster, Route 8.

Developed after a month on tour in Australia, gestating ideas from our temporary Ballarat HQ at Brenton's house. The experiences and ideas explored on that trip - from rain-stick ambient experimentations with Daze to an off-the-cuff electro/techno live set with Jimmy, along with the constantly evolving solo live excursions and pad-centric productions - have resulted in a beautifully captivating hour long journey. Love, pillows, ciders and melancholia borne deep in the depths of the smoke-filled warehouse. This is Route 8 as his most contemplative and diverse, a real wander into the night wood for speakers large and small.

TRP came crashing onto to the Lobster Theremin radar deep into 2014 with a relentless output of hammering raw house and crunchy techno emitting from his South-West German lair. A clattering, undulating, acidic blend of genres all set to fire the floor into life.

We finally met in person at the LT night at Prince Charles in Berlin last year and his set that night was actually meant to be used for this very podcast series. However, having kicked out about 8000 racks since then it only seems right that we present a very special 100% TRP mix of unreleased material, cut direct from the lab.

Upfront 068: Ethiopian Records

Sergio Munoz and Israel Sunshine's combined talent under their Fur Coat moniker was first spotted by the keen A&R ear of Damian Lazarus, who signed their debut EP Space Ballad to his east London imprint Crosstown Rebels back in 2010. Specialising in creating dark and immersive atmospheres, the duo deploy weirded out vocals amidst deep and rolling grooves in their aesthetic, weaving compelling journeys for their listeners in their productions and DJ sets. 

In addition to impressing on Lazarus they also have caught the attention of Last Night on Earth boss Sasha who in his latest Cornerstone Tracks interview with us talked up their sound to new heights saying of the duo "They’re just making really great dancefloor records at the moment; the perfect records for the middle of your set that can really take the roof off the club. They are really focussing on those peak-time records and they’re doing a very good job." As far as endorsements go they couldn't really get better than these words from a figurehead such as Sasha, and as the pair prepare to come to our Room One space this Saturday night we are amped to present an exclusive new mix showcasing perfectly the sound they are tipped so highly for.

After many years on the sidelines of the music scene, he decided in 2005 to take the leap at making his passion a career. With a mixtape in his hand and hope in his heart he gave his music to a DJ and landed his first resident gig spinning for 1000+ club goers.

After years of a career in the commercial electronic scene, he discovered the DJS who sculpted his sound to what it is today. Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Tenaglia, Guy J and John Digweed are his biggest inspirations. Since finding his true sound, Johnny has played alongside many talented local and international DJS in Montreal, Canada's most popular clubs Stereo Afterhours, Stereobar, New City Gas and Circus Afterhours.

Some five years later his musical progression has evolved substantially. Last year saw him release the critically acclaimed 'Theory Of Flo' accompanied by a brand new live show. His sounds sees him dabble between the crossovers of world music, dance and balearic obscurity. He captures a sun kissed sound which you would certainly not associate with the bleak and rainy forecast which so often swamps Glasgow. He steps up to deliver us over an hour of percussion, exclusives, earthly samples and beyond: a real treat.
