BIOGRAPHY: Mila Stern

Mila Stern’s far over a decade-long career as a DJ and producer has taken her from
squat parties in Halle (eastern Germany), where she first learned her craft, through the
pulsing motley of Tel Aviv, to her adopted home of Berlin and the epicenter of
electronic club culture. Her calm, commanding skill as a selector rapidly made her a
sought-after artist, with regular appearances at premier festivals like Fusion, Nation
of Gondwana, and Garbicz, and residencies at Berlin’s legendary Kater Club and
Station Endlos in Halle. Since then, she’s transcended the boundaries of the Berlin
underground, bringing her signature style to the international circuit from Mexico to
Kazakhstan.

Mila delivers a groove-heavy aesthetic that has recently shifted toward deeper, more
focused energies drawing on restrained propulsion, textured sound design, and
subtly evolving rhythms. Her selections now balance minimalism and intensity,
rooted in the hypnotic but never stuck in genre constraints. What sets her apart is a
willingness to embrace unorthodox sonic spaces, explore the beauty in harshness and
dissonance, and embed arresting moments in robust, rolling substructures.
From her early days, Mila’s sound has been shaped by a sense of counterculture and
the urge to break normative boundaries. Her DJ sets especially long-form closings encapsulate a vision of rave culture as expressive, eclectic, and non-judgmental.
She continues to draw on risqué, narrative-driven tracks and boldly carves out new
territory without compromise even as the context around her evolves.

As a DJ, producer, event organizer, former radio host, and label co-founder, she
pushes the envelope while rejecting genre dogma. In 2025, Mila co-founded the label
MiZi MuZiK with long-time friend and collaborator Mira a platform shaped by
their shared values of autonomy and artistic integrity. While the label and Mila’s
current musical direction follow distinct paths, both are rooted in a deep belief in
sound that speaks for itself.

Few artists balance deep floor energy with such artistic clarity. Mila Stern continues
to evolve her sound while remaining grounded in a rave ethos that challenges
paradigms and makes space for what lies ahead.

Manchmal ist es eine Frage der Perspektive. Es ist diese alte Geschichte: Wenn du vom Elefanten nur ein Bein wahrnimmst, hältst du es vielleicht für einen Baum. Erst verschiedene Blickwinkel vermitteln einen vollständigen Eindruck.
So ist es auch beim Rahmen. Für die einen bedeutet er Orientierung, Fokus, Sicherheit oder das Regelwerk für ein gutes Spiel. Für die anderen bedeutet ein Rahmen Begrenzung, Einengung, Vorschrift oder ein unangemessenes Narrativ. Beide Perspektiven haben ihre Berechtigung abhängig von Raum, Zeit und beteiligten Personen.
Natürlich sind unterschiedliche Blickwinkel keine alternativen Fakten. Ein Feuer in der Carakum-Wüste ist kein Dattelhain. Jedoch hängt die Bedeutung einer Tatsache von unserer Perspektive ab. Hinter manchen Perspektiven stecken Bedürfnisse. Das ist menschlich. Ich will tanzen, du willst tanzen. Probieren wir es miteinander? Nicht jeder Tritt auf den Fuß ist böse Absicht. Manchmal ist es Ungeschicklichkeit, manchmal sogar lustig und manchmal hast du einfach selbst einen echt wilden Move gemacht. Manchmal ist es ein Weckruf… Wenn wir verlernen, verschiedene Perspektiven zu teilen, sehen wir Bäume, wo Elefanten sind, sehen wir Trennendes, wo Gemeinsamkeiten sind, erfüllen sich Ängste statt unserer Bedürfnisse. Und am Ende sehen wir vielleicht nur Buchstaben, wo eigentlich Meeronauten Musik zu hören ist!

Over the years, Anna Lazer has built a rich and eclectic collection of sounds — always exploring, always pushing boundaries. Whether it’s in clubs, at festivals, or at illegal raves in the middle of nowhere, her sets take you on a hypnotic journey through driving basslines and deep, pulsating rhythms.

As a member of the Munich-based collective Folge der Wolke (“Follow the Cloud”), Anna helps shape and energize a wide range of creative spaces across and around the city. 

From open-airs in the Olympic Park and label nights at Bahnwärter Thiel and Lieberscholli, to secret raves by the Isar and wild parties in a hidden trailer park somewhere in Munich — she and her crew bring the underground to life wherever they go.

Indie Dance Mix Series Anna Lazer

Finally sharing my Sisyphos set from that unforgettable morning. This weekend was a special one, played Dampfer 8–11am, then went straight to Poland for my Mystic Creatures sunset set. You’ve heard the sunset… now here’s the sunrise.

Surrounded by that hypnotic morning energy, I played a mix of my latest productions, a few unreleased bits, and some favourites of the moment.
