This is a live recording of the Pittsburgh Creators' Project Symphonic Winds in July 2024 by flutist Lauren Radeschi.

Moonburst is a piece that aims to embody a full moon's enchanting and transformative power. The full moon can have a magical presence, lighting up the sky with its reflection of the sun's light to the point where it looks like it might burst. If you have ever taken a walk during a full moon, you might have felt this.

The piece is arranged for a solo flute and intermediate concert band, capturing the ethereal essence of moonlit nights. The solo flute is central to the composition's narrative, and the music moves through varying dynamics and moods, much like the changing light of the moon as it travels across the night sky.

The interplay between the soloist and the ensemble in Moonburst creates a musical journey that mirrors the emotional journey of a moonlit night. The music transitions between light and shadow, serenity and vitality, echoing the moon's ability to both soothe and invigorate the soul.
