Studio Pandora is a hybrid between an off- and online stage in TivoliVredenburg. In the former smoking area on the sixth floor podcasts about music are developed, DJs are given free reign and a stage is created for conversations about culture and/or Utrecht. Studio Pandora was created thanks to the experiences of TivoliVredenburg in recent times. A souvenir of the COVID era, which artist Dewy Elsinga has turned into a colourful and warm headquarter, by which we’d like to offer a kickstart to starting, experimenting and often local creatives.

The mix was made on a thurdsay afternoon in no time and is pretty honest. I took some LPs we actually listen to a lot (Joy Orbison, Erykah Badu, FKA Twigs, Jack J, Isa Gordon, Andras) and added a few current 12 inches. A mix of Indie Pop, R&B, smooth analogue House, leftfield Electronica and discoish stuff is what you get.

You do not necessarily associate the Mexican electronic music scene with the deeper nuances and facets but rather with Dark Disco and Melodic Techno. All the more Glo My’s way to walk the initially-named path is even more impressive. Originally from Mexico City Jimena, Glo My’s real name, now resides in Italy’s north, Milan to be more precise, spreading her ever groovey yet melodically demanding and sound-wise ambitious music to and with the world. Therefore the artist provides her listeners with a potpourri of Deep House, Breaks, UK Garage and keeps a ravey and with abstract textures sprinkled vibe, which elegantly and smoothly unites the before-mentioned genres and influences to one homogenous sound-experience adding up to the Glo My-way. Her own events, Hell Town, surely have helped Glo My to dive deeper into compiling her sets and creating unique tonal ecstasies but these days the artist distinguishes herself with several productions, something Glo My has only been doing for a little longer than four years. Her latest addings to her catalogue of musical outings are her track Sang Woo on Lis Sarroca’s Maai label, as well as an EP on Womxn Records called Lejos de Casa and another single track, Hey Kiss Me, on Bass Water Freak Out. Having been kissed by Glo My’s style, probably as softly as it was once sung about, there’s only one thing left to say: It’s either the Glo My Way or no way at all. Kiosk Radio Residency — January 2023

Following on from the success of Jorkes's Sweet Dream EP on the influential Live At Robert Johnson label, a wealth of innovative electronic talents all serve up their own remixes of it including Paris Böhm, Alinka, ROTCIV, Hard Ton, and more.

German-born but Austria-based Jorkes runs the Freeride Millenium label with her muse, lover, and partner Daniel Rajcsanyi aka. Paris Böhm. Her provocative work centralizes gender, queer and egalitarian attitudes, and her Sweet Dreams EP showed the many different sides of her sound.

It is Radio8000 resident ParisBöhm who offers the first remix of 'CDEvaLo'. It's slow and sensuous, with intimate spoken word vocals and lithe synths while the bubbling melodies add color. Next up is Ukraine-born but Berlin-based Alinka, whose hard-hitting sounds have come on the likes of Rekids and Crosstown. Her version of 'Sweet Dream' is uplifting and glossy with busy arps rising up over prickly drums. Acid gurgles add extra texture to this classy floor filler. Freeride Millenium associates Snecker aka Berghain resident DJ nd_baumecker and musician, singer, songwriter, producer, performer, and DJ Snax tackle the same track. In their hands, it becomes a steamy house cut with floating synth motifs and crisp claps over a tantalizing beat that never stops building.

ROTCIV is another Freeride Millenium artist who has a cultured and colorful sound built on alternating arpeggios, automated synth melodies, and weird vocals. His remix of 'You Will Be Mine' is a zoned-out vocal disco chugger with a rugged bassline. The cosmic rays up top and silky arps help the whole track take off. Italian duo and accomplished disco queens Hard Ton are all about hi-nrg beats and screaming acid bass whenever they release on Freeride Millenium or the likes of Toy Tonics. They remix 'You Will Be Mine' in typically high-impact fashion as crashing hits and drums pump the party underneath astral synths and libidinous vocals. Experimental Berlin art trio New Hook then step up to rework 'Robot Lover' into something beautifully atmospheric and melancholic with thoughtful chords over nu-disco grooves. This package is completed with a final fantastic Форм Remix of 'CDEvaLo' that adds yet another perspective.

All bases are covered in head-turning fashion on this vital remix EP.

Sound Du Jour returns with two cuts from deep house star Andy Ash, alongside remixes from Ian Blevins & PBR Streetgang’s Magari.
‘Inner Light’ immediately positions itself as an earworm track, its plucks darting irresistibly over vibrant pads while unintelligible chatter drops in throughout this whimsical and joyful journey. Magari, aka PBR Streetgang’s Bonar Bradberry, expertly redevelops the track into a chuggy Italo powerhouse, maintaining the song’s cheerfulness yet infusing it with elements of mystery and wonder. ‘Inner Darkness’ kickstarts the B-side. Dubby synths build up in intensity, dusk making way for beautiful-yet wistful melodies as the sun sets. Closing out the release, ESP Institute & Me Me Me alumnus Ian Blevins foots the track with a pacy rhythm, gloomy toms ducking in between a steady kickdrum as the original’s song elements drip and ooze over the beat. “I was sitting in someone’s house after a big night out at 5 AM, talking about how everyone has an inner light and inner darkness to them, which is what makes people, people! After that I went home and started both tracks, aimed at capturing that feeling of being in a club and getting totally lost in the music” - Andy Ash Liverpool’s Andy Ash is a staple of the underground deep house scene after ten years of lauded releases. His inimitable approach and unique take on the style evident through his music on labels such as Delusions of Grandeur, Dessous, Still Music and Quintessentials - whether it’s his paintings or his music, Andy Ash is always doing something worth checking out!

With a good few releases under his belt on labels such as Gene On Earth’s The Sound Of Limo, Gestalt Records, The Sound Of Steam or Craigie Knowes Bristol-based artist Boulderhead has built quite a formidable discography since 2020 and if pressing plants weren’t as busy as they are, the Welsh would have even more music of himself out there. Aside from releasing own music Henry James, Boulderhead’s real name, runs his own label Mint Tea, on which he’s been putting out VAs only so far, also including music from himself under his real name. However, since the label is a passion project according to Henry it does not follow a regular releasing schedule but now seems to be back with an EP and maybe more. In an interview with Torture the Artist Boulderhead speaks about the success of his latest release, the future of the label, how he likes his tea served and more. Additionally he’s mixed and compiled the latest edition of the art:cast series and it’s a deep-treat.
