Frederik Neu DJ Set 2.2024

Heute hat der Osterhase für uns ein ganz besonderes Ei versteckt. Nach kurzem Suchen in unsere Küche, wurden wir fündig.   Gefunden haben wir ein buntes Ei gefüllt mit Disco, House und lauter anderem groovigen Geschmäckern. Gelegt wurde das Ei von Frederik Neu, der auch letztens erst seine Debüt EP namens „Liberated“ auf dem Label Midnight Operators released hat.

Back to Berlin to meet Frederik Neu, a DJ and event manager who recently released his second work as producer at Johannes Albert's Frank Music label. Will Frederik be the first artist to join us for the regular and the PRO series? Time will tell.

Frederik Neu is a DJ and Producer from Tübingen, Germany. He ran his own event series called “Listening to Rocco”. In 2023 Frederik released his debut EP on Sarah Wild´s label „Midnight Operators“ which was followed by a release on Frank Music.

Frederik Neu - What are you listening to?

I tried to combine a lot of tracks which are connected with memories or influenced me in my musical development. Therefore the mix got very personal for me. It’s a mix of music which I would call experimental, electro pop and some house, so I stayed in electronic genres which was not intended when I started my research.

I really wanted to stick to the idea of this series and don’t have a focus on club music, still there are a few tracks which could be played in a club but in general this is all listening music to me. 

In this mix the connections between single tracks were not my focus, although I tried to sort them in a way which made sense for me. A really important part of DJing in general for me is to catch the vibe of the moment and of course this is not possible with a pre selected sequence of tracks. So I would call this more a collection of tracks which have a big emotional value for me than a real DJ Mix.

I‘m super happy about the opportunity to actively occupy myself with my musical background. Of course I‘m listening to a lot more genres in my free time but this would go beyond the scope for this mix.
