Soela is the DJ and production alias of Elina Shorokhova, a Russia-born Berlin-based experienced pianist and vocalist who has made a hugely successful transition into electronic music. 
She released her material on such labels as Kompakt, Dial, Shall Not Fade, Lost Palms, E-Beamz, Red Ember Records, Sushitech, and others. With a style that combines house, dub techno, and experimental electronica, Soela is creating versatile tracks and mixes, and collaborating with artists such as Christopher Ledger, Steve O’Sullivan, and Module One.

Reece Walker (sometimes known as Carmel) is a DJ and producer originally from
Perth, Australia now living Leipzig, Germany. He has released on labels such as
Kann, Long Vehicle and R.A.N.D. Muzik Recordings - the latter, a label that he
founded and runs along with co-running the labels, Breakfree, QC Records and
Bitterfeld Musik. In his spare time he runs the vinyl and digital music distribution
company, Inch By Inch Distribution. Expect all varieties of house on record, from the late 80s til today along with techno and electro with groove.

US artist Danny Daze, out of Miami, has long been affiliated with the more electronic side of dance music. From the early days in the electro scene and more abstract forms of techno, the Omnidisc boss has covered a lot of musical ground since then. Helping to reimagine the underground landscape, Danny was pivotal in the early 2010s club sound with releases on Hot Creations, Ellum Audio, and Kompakt. He soon turned his attention back to the obscure side of the dancefloor and IDM. As much a music lover and dancer as he is an artist, he knows exactly what works on the dancefloor and his recent album “::BLUE::” on his own Omnidisc imprint exemplifies this ethos. "We don't get the benefits of a regular rub down as we used to, but when it happens, it remains a bit of a treat. The chaos of the early discogs forums introduced us over 20 years ago but also because we shared a love of proper deep music and the high life. We've done some Estimulo Shows, SUNK parties (with Chris) and many lost all nighters together before trajectories diverged. This one was a recent Saturday night, just winging it whilst quaffing notable Italian Reds. Its mildly amusing to me (Andy) that this recording leans into Dub Techno, a genre for which Truly has peculiar aversion to… and yet we are left feeling for dubby chords, swirling delays, some elegiac melodies and our passion for the proper tunage......one more rider?"

Welcome to the see signals sea noise podcast, an outreach program within the framework of the long-running artistic research project Computer Signals by Hannes Rickli (with Valentina Vuksic, Birk Weiberg and Christoph Stähli). This project includes a vast archive, which results from the interest in observing form an artistic perspective how biologists conduct their climate impact research.

Dive into discussions about the project's diverse stages, the people involved and its extensive audio archive, featuring over 50,000 hours of underwater recordings –  now open for experiments!

In this episode,  we spoke with Lb Honne, the Zurich-based artist, producer and co-founder of the labels Project Indigo and St.Odes. Our conversation touched on his work with the Computer Signals Audio Archive, where he developed a personal system of accessibility in response to the vast amount of recordings. We also discussed how, throughout his work with the archive, he implemented a new approach to his artistic practice, and to his methods of sampling and sound manipulation.

IMMI BAKES - What are you listening to?

This set carries my roots and shows where I’m going. Shaped by African rhythms, jazz influences and spiritual elements, it drifts between softness and movement, grounded and free.

Playing a more experimental set was refreshing, as it let me explore new sides of my sound and finally do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. It’s my personal journey – a way of finding hope in becoming whole. Maybe it finds someone out there who needs that, too.
