In an electronic music landscape often dominated by fleeting trends, the pursuit of genuine "Understanding" is a commendable ambition, and it’s this very concept that Stuttgart’s Jakob Mäder (SXDNS418) explores with impressive depth on his latest EP for Munich’s Dance Petrol Records. Mäder is no stranger to aficionados of the German house scene, having previously delivered compelling works for a roster of acclaimed imprints including theBasement Discos, Miura, Frank Music, Zissou, Constant Change, and TOYS Berlin, just to name a few. This history reveals a producer with a refreshingly versatile palette, refusing to be pinned to a single subgenre. The "Understanding" EP continues this journey, presenting two original tracks that feel both introspective and rhythmically engaging. Info: Jakob Mäder returns with "Understanding", a two-track EP that showcases the Stuttgart-based artist’s refined sense for deep grooves and genre-blending soundscapes. Known for his wide-ranging musical vision and versatile DJ and live performances, Mäder delivers two original cuts that echo his deep house roots and experimental curiosity—accompanied by a stellar remix from long-time collaborator Luise.

The title giving track Understanding dives straight into deep territories. Snappy chords and vocal fragments ride a slick, understated groove, resulting in a track that feels both timeless and fresh—a clear continuation of Mäder’s deep, soulful approach to the dancefloor.

Strings follows with ethereal pads, thumpin’ kicks, and a warm, rounded bassline. It’s a full-bodied homage to the Windy City, with string arrangements that lend the track its name and emotional weight. A deep house bliss-out designed for those early morning hours where the connection between sound and soul runs deepest.

Closing out the release, Luise reimagines Strings in a breakbeat framework, layering in percussive tension and vocal snippets for a fresh rhythmic perspective. Jakob Mäder is a Stuttgart based DJ and producer who also performs live. His musical interest spans across different genres: ambient, disco, house, acid, and sometimes even techno inspired music.

Together with his crew Midnight Service he organises events with artists such as Johannes Albert, Philipp Schultheis or Panthera Krause, just to name a few. 

Ranging from reduced ambient to classic house inspired deep house or experimental breakbeat productions, his output as a producer reflects his eclectic taste as a DJ. Besides crafting his very own tracks, cheerful disco tracks result from his artistic work every now and then. 

He started his own label Constant Change in 2021.
