Up next on Brooklyn’s Scissor & Thread is the latest EP from Snad, aka Shyam Anand (also known as Spandrel), the Berlin-based artist whose discography already spans labels like Smallville, Minibar, 20:20 Vision, Phonica AM, TerraFirm, Running Back, Cabinet, Kimochi and Dungeon Meat with remixes for names including Seafoam and Chez Damier. 

A trusted selector and producer in the underground, Snad has steadily built a reputation for deeply considered productions that balance classic inspiration with his own forward-thinking edge.

The AM Yard EP opens with its title track, a warm, hazy cut rooted in the kind of bassline architecture that recalls Chez n Trent’s Morning Factory but reshaped with Snad’s signature dreamlike touch. 

Anticip8 fanchors the release with a more direct energy, rolling, insistent and focused on the floor, balancing stripped-down drive of dusty samples wrung through his digitakt with just enough harmonic flourish to pull the listener inward. 

On the flip, The Pursuit follows in a slightly different mode, drawing on experimental vocoder techniques and filtered percussion creating a hypnotic push-and-pull that feels as intricate as it is understated.

Rounding things out, label heads Francis Harris and Anthony Collins, under their Frank & Tony alias, reimagine The Pursuit with their Housebeat Remix, extending its atmospherics into an even deeper headspace that glides effortlessly into late-night territory.

Soulfooled, lovingly curated since its inception in 2010 by the outstanding German producer & DJ, Alex Niggemann, has steadily established itself as a crucial platform for fresh talent. Alex Niggemann’s impressive A&R skills were once again highlighted when Dresden’s enigmatic Felkon, released his excellent, mind-bending debut track (“Creixell”) on last sum- mer’s “Soulfooled Cribs Vol.2 EP” (the second instalment of the exciting format that brings the ever-evolving Soulfooled family together). The resulting furore has now led to Felkon returning with a trio of absolutely stunning creations for his “Cry Wolf” EP.
The pulsating, infectiously percussive “Cry Wolf” opens pro- ceedings, layered with super-seductive ebbing and  owing melodic waves, and building towards a plateau of beauti- fully subtle, scarily spooky energy. Meanwhile, the equally engrossing “Eos” has its own distinct identity, pirouetting majestically around another masterclass of subtle, melodic, rhythmic beauty.
“Selene” expands the theme of melody within rhythm even further, with its gorgeous, heart-melting motifs. A wonderful hint of melancholic re ection, serves to create an atmosphere for the track that renders it in one’s subconscious way after its  nal notes have faded from the speakers.
As a teenager Felkon got his  rst experience of being on stage with “Die Pilger”, a fun punk band from his hometown of Dresden, Germany. After the band broke up in 2010, he took his  rst steps into the world of producing electronic music, a process that has evolved to now also playing live sets and DJ sets throughout Europe. Having previously released the “Sunset Stories EP” (Blossom Kollektiv) and the aforementioned “Creixell” (Soulfooled), his new “Cry Wolf” will surely mark Felkon out as major new talent to watch
out for throughout 2016 and beyond, proving what a great discovery he is.
With an ever-growing family of superb artists in their “crib” and stunning releases like this on the agenda, Soulfooled continues to grow into one of the  nest labels around.

Purveyor to the house royals and regalness, Shahrokh Dini (now you can call him a Dino, or Don Dini) has got an atttracted widespread support througout his long long career as a DJ and true house producer. He had releases on Strictly Rhythm back in the days (late 90s) and with a boast of enviable releases on Compost Black Label he was supported by  me, Ron Trent, Jimpster, Dimitri From Paris, Rainer Trueby, Sasse, Laurent Garnier and many many others.

By the way, Shahrokh Dini is not only a house producer and DJ, he is running clubs since the mid 90ties, frequently he promotes club-music events, he has various DJ residencies, and his own club called „Monk“ in his hometown Karlsruhe.

HAMBURG HEAVYWEIGHTS, ADANA TWINS ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF THEIR NEW LABEL, TAU. WITH A FREE ORIGINAL ADANA TWINS TRACK TO CELEBRATE THE START OF A NEW ERA FOR THE PAIR. 

As longstanding purveyors of their unique brand of house and techno, prime Hamburg exports, Adana Twins announce the launch of their own label, TAU. Having risen through the ranks since the pairs inception back in 2006, Adana Twins have seen soaring success. Working up heat on the DJ circuit before hitting the big time in 2012, with hits ‘Everyday’ and ‘Strange’, they have since worked with the most notable brands, labels and bodies in the industry. Last year, the duo achieved an all-time high, signing to notorious Berlin institution-come-label, Watergate. 2018 has already proven to be a fruitful one with the release of their ‘Jupiter’ EP on Watergate. Despite this, it seems the well-known unwavering tenacity of Adana Twins is undying, establishing themselves as true connoisseurs of their craft, heading up their very own imprint, TAU.

To celebrate their new venture, Adana Twins have produced an original track to be released as a free download via the TAU Soundcloud. New track, ‘Frozen’, features Brazilian experimental-dance music duo, Digitaria. Much alike the Adana Twins, Digitaria have spent their own fair amount of time crafting their sound, playing as part of a four-piece band since 2004. They now create music without rules, pushing the boundaries of what dance music can be. This teaming up of restless musical minds, clearly manifests in the track itself. The signature elements of the Adana Twins sound are presented in powerful kicks and pulsing hi-hats. Eerie vocals serenade amid swirling melodic bells and roaring sirens, building to a spin-tingling crescendo that sees all elements break loose in a pulsating frenzy. Whilst also receiving major support from Techno Heavyweights Tale Of Us throughout the last few months. 
 
The collaboration with Digitaria on ‘Frozen’ paves the way for the overall ethos of new label, TAU; seeking to bring up-and-coming talent to the fore. Having been instrumental in securing their home city of Hamburg’s position on the electronic music landscape, Adana Twins stay very humble in their hopes for TAU; seeking to create a platform for new talent alongside other music they believe in. In true Adana Twins style, they already have two releases in the pipeline, TAU001 and TAU002.

Inaugural release, TAU001, comes from a rising German duo by the name of Innellea is set to drop 31st August. Delivering a unique style of tribal infused techno, Innellea are believed to be one of the up-and-coming talents in the scene at present. TAU002, comes from yet another exciting new talent, BOg. Hailing from Romania, currently based in Paris, BOg first broke onto the scene after being signed to John Digweed’s ‘Bedrock Records’. Over the past 12-years, he has become affiliated with the likes of Solomun and Dixon, releasing on both respective artists own imprints Diynamic and Innervisions; speaking volumes for what can be expected from BOg’s debut EP on TAU.

Berlin-based duo Aaaron & Deckert continue their path out of the darkness and into the light with the 'Shadows' EP on Chapter 24.
They are joined by a third Berliner - the accomplished DJ, vocalist and songwriter
Meggy - on the A-side. It's a powerful, rolling cut, textured and full of swagger, set off
by Meggy's dusky signature vocal that combines equal parts darkness and soul.
The package is completed by ‘Hide’ on the flip. Bumping tribal toms set the scene before a killer synth line takes hold. All in all it’s a feel good affair, though not completely black and white.

After two strong releases from upcoming talents, Innellea and BOg, including the hugely successful remix from Mathias Schober, the third offering on TAU comes from label heads, Adana Twins. ‘Risen’ sees the Adana Twins signature sound delivered in the form of a 3-Track EP, aimed firmly at the dancefloor with thunderous rolling drum beats and stabbing synth tones.

The release follows the Adana Twins’ delivery of the twenty-fifth edition of the infamous Watergate mix series, packed full of exclusive, unreleased tracks as well as three of their own originals. Included in the compilation, their mind-blowing remix of Patrice Bäumel’s decade-old track ‘Roar’ has been received with huge support, currently sitting in Top 10 overall on Beatport.

Simplistic in nature, the Adana Twins have stripped back their sound to provide an EP which at times touches on influences from Trance. Opening track ‘Pavan’ displays these features best, as the synth tones build into a firm and solid kick drum.

‘Maestro’ delivers a more robust sound, with heavy bass line primed for the peak time hours. ‘Ebrietas’ showcases Adana Twins finer abilities to mix between the lines of Trance and Techno, incorporating the industrial nature of the duo’s previous productions.

The EP has been the Adana Twins secret weapon within their record bag for many months, delivering countless spine-tingling moments on the dancefloor. ‘Risen’ EP demonstrates that the forward-thinking duo are in tune with the times, whilst also push- ing forward their own unique sound.

A few months in and TAU, the label helmed by Adana Twins, is in the groove. Launched in August 2018, the outlet has given the Hamburg duo a chance to flex their A&R muscles, curating releases that showcase more established artists alongside up and coming talents, while allowing them to fully explore their own tastes.
TAU004 shines a light on Amberoom, a German trio comprised Manuel Tur, Adrian Hoffmann and Ramin Nouyan. The three men produce won- derfully warm, soulful, nourishing compositions which have already court favour with the Innervisions crew - their killer track ‘Kastell’ released on the much-respected ‘Secret Weapons 11’ compilation, and Dixon added his own “Retouch”. Veteran producer isolée steps up for remix duties on this one, too, making this an essential three-tracker.
The EP kicks off with ‘Tulu’ a stirring cut punctuated by a wistful male vocal complemented by a harmonious, yet sombre low end. Delicate twin- kles and emotive strings add depth as the track tugs on your heartstrings. This is a lush, measured composition with excellent programming on its organic-sounding drums and a contemplative atmosphere throughout.
Next up is the title track, ‘Jazire’, which picks up the pace immediately. A contagious 4x4 beat forms the foundation of this rousing number, which builds steadily into a cacophony of tribal-esque effects; shakers reverberating next to mysterious sounds that echo in and out of the back- ground. A melancholy melody gives this track extra emotional density, while the tension builds and subsides intermittently and the beat keeps those hips moving.
Lastly, isolée’s reinterpretation of the title track utilises a more traditional house motif, emphasising the shadowy atmospherics and injecting a more insistent beat. As the 4x4 rhythm pumps along, he adds clicks and skipping toms - pushing the energy levels up a notch. A dark, eerie tone pervades and isolée retains the sorrowful refrain from the original to complement his dour synth riff.
Adana Twins keep the standards high as TAU continues to impress with another exemplary release.
