The uplifting 'Rote Nacht' (A1) reveals the contrasting energy between the tumultuous city and the silent mountain, before gently giving way to the feelings of the exotic seascape in 'Essaouira' (A2). Delicately, yet suprising as ever, Acid Pauli rearranges the warm drums in 'Essaouira' (B1) to let your spirit rest in an imagined, green oasis, before it’s completely taken away by the lightness of the seabirds in 'Taghazout' (B2).

Despite being a small town in Norway surrounded by seven mountains, the Hall of Fame of Bergen is home to many world famous names including Edvard Grieg, Erlend Øye and Röyksopp. It’s also home to Made In Sane, an enigmatic duo with a passion for all things analogue and Eighties. They also have a knack for melody, as they display in their enchanting debut Flying Circuits.

Remixes come from Man Power and Mørkeby. Not much is known about Man Power. We know the mysterious whizz kid lives in Europe and he has a release coming up on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs... Second remix comes from Mørkeby, yet another Norwegian disco talent we can add to the Eskimo list next to Prins Thomas, Todd Terje and Lindstrøm..

Not one to revel too much in the limelight, Johannes Brecht prefers to ply his trade in the shadows - fitting for his oceandeep productions. The Stuttgart native marks his first outing on Steve Bug's inimitable Poker Flat Recordings with an exceptionally atmospheric EP sure to make it's mark with the deeper end of the DJ fraternity. 

'What's About' bumps along with an irresistible groove, incorporating a sweet guitar lick and various backward synths before a sick bass line arrives to lift the track yet further into the ether. It's house music for music lovers, and sure to go over big with discerning dance floors. 

Likewise, the epic 11-minute 'You' develops with a sense of style and restraint often missing in the club, and revolves around beautifully realized synth pads over a crisp, punchy rhythm.

Beatport customer can also pick up the equally impressive and lengthy 'Deep Down', which hints at Brecht's love of Detroit - a left field bomb for the heads.

Maxim created the ICE LP within a timespan of 3 years, mostly while traveling throughout Germany by train, touring as part of the Günther Lause duo. The LP portrays the complex networks of railways and tunnel systems that permeate the earth like artificial veins. Sonically it is very much inspired by the soundscapes of urban spaces and rail stations, the pulsing motions of modern mass transportation, which he captured in various field recordings that are mixed into the dub techno influenced atmospheres.

After dropping several tracks and performing at select festivals throughout the years, Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen dedicated the year 2014 to explore the area in-between Ólafur’s more acoustic, piano-based solo work and Janus’s synth-heavy electro pop, with their collaborative electronic project Kiasmos.

By focusing solely on their self-titled debut album, Ólafur and Janus have been able to combine and further develop their unique sound aesthetics to complete an album driven by their mutual love for electronic music. Made in Ólafur’s newly build studio in Reykjavík, Iceland, a majority of the album was recorded using acoustic instruments next to a variety of synthesisers, drum machines and tape delays. It features a live drummer, string quartet and Ólafur performing on the grand piano, producing an ambient, textured sound, which makes it a perfect home listen and equally danceable record. If you listen closely, you can spot them record the thumb piano, finger snapping and even the sound of the metal grinder of a lighter slowly to replace the usual electronic hi-hat sounds, giving the album a far more intimate and unique atmosphere.

“We decided to start almost completely over with this record, so most of the material is written this year with the idea of making a record that can stand as one piece rather than a collection of songs. I am very excited to get a proper record out exploring a different territory than I am used to. I touch a lot on electronic genres in my own music but never have the opportunity to go full out electronic like we do here.” – Ólafur Arnalds

So when we early this year finally found the time to sit down and make a full length album there was so much we wanted to try out. The Crew Love crusader makes his long awaited return to dirtybird. The latest in a long line of slickshot pieces this year, both “5 Feet” and “American Holiday” are two of his shiniest, sleaziest, slinkiest adventures to date.

“5 Feet” opens with Nick’s trademark organic drums, dubbed-out to create an early night empty concert hall feeling. But the venue fills faster than the naked eye can possibly see as the tightly plucked bass guitar drops into the pocket of a supreme classic old school house pattern. Adorned with Nick’s simple falsetto vocal hook, there’s a cool Bootsy-meets-LCD vibe running throughout. Sexy, infectious and purring with groove science.

“American Holiday” takes us much deeper into Monaco’s outer-dimension. Drama trembles off every space-out tub-thump before a stark piano hook takes intro duties. Suddenly replaced by a shimmering guitar line, we’re soon massaged by crying synth stretches, an array of percussive sprinkles and bold synth leads. Part Amazonian, part Neptunian, this track is definitely outside the box.

Every Nick Monaco track is essential in our ears, but there really is a deep sense of next levelism to these two cuts. Five feet high… And rising.

Constantijn Lange is a Berlin-based electronic music composer whose work has been released on labels such as Laut & Luise, Heimlich Musik, TRAUM Schallplatten, Get Physical, Sinnbus, Platon, Egoplanet, and RVNSWY. Known for his rich, layered synth melodies, jazzy and kraut-inspired atmospheres, field recordings, deep basslines, and handcrafted percussion elements, his sound carries a distinctive signature that runs consistently through his productions.

As both a live act and Dj, Constantijn performs at clubs and festivals around the world. His sets are often described as deeply emotional and personal, resonating with audiences across the globe—including in Germany, Russia, Poland, Switzerland, South Africa, Austria, Belgium, Mexico, and many other countries.
