Just when it felt like there was already enough drama going on for a whole century in a tiny decade, things became worse and more confusing by the hour. A sadly too well known Russian dictator started invading Ukraine in early 2022 and as of the years end is not showing signs of retreat. 

The time to not be political has clearly come to an end and so we set out to empathize with our sisters and brothers that have lost their homes, ripped their lives apart and express our condolence to those that have lost their loved ones. There is very little in our power to help, but with this compilation we try to raise at least a little money to help those in need. 

Since we're a record label and not an NGO we decided to forward 100% of the profits to Blindspots e.V., an organisation dedicated to help distribute material donations and evacuate people from embattled cities. You can read more about their work here:

Today we are happy to present you our latest Afterhour Sounds compilation. After almost a year it was about time to publish a new, in-house release. Our goal with each compilation is to share our understanding of an afterhour with you. As far back as we can remember an afterhour has always been something very special. An episode of rest and yet also of departure. Always individually different and yet somehow categorically the same. This is exactly the spirit we try to musically depict with each of our compilations. 
Finally, this time we have also included exciting downtempo, midtempo and uptempo tracks. Each track is completely different in terms of mood and energy, but due to their atmosphere and playfulness, they fit perfectly into every (afterhour) playlist. Surely there is something for each of you. 
Our newest compilation is as usual a "Free Download" with voluntary donation. For this you can use the Bandcamp link below and decide for yourself what the project is worth to you. A donation via the Paypal link bellow is also possible. This time, we have decided to support the aid project "Blind-Spots" with the proceeds, which we consider among many currently still worthy of support. Therefore we would be happy if you, as far as possible, would leave a small contribution for our project.

After a sunny trip to warm Miami to see Magician on Duty, today we head all the way back to the south of Bavaria. In Passau, Lisa Luka welcomes us with her danceable interpretation of her Afterhour. But more on that later.

We came across Lisa Luka through our friend https://soundcloud.com/maria-theresia-von-eberg, who highly recommended her to us. What can we say? In one word: captivating. Her sound focuses mainly on the dancefloor. In terms of tempo as well as in the transporting mood. With this sound, no leg can stand still. And yes, that's exactly what we need in these icy temperatures outside.
Her mix is a fabulous blend of laid-back and exceedingly sun-filled organic dance music with a touch of deepness. After just a few minutes, you can't stop smiling. Even better, because you lose yourself in the Lisa-Lukas‘chen sound cosmos in the blink of an eye. You easily forget all the problems around you plus you will be teleported back to the festival season without any detours. 😊...wonderful. 

As the set progresses, it even picks up more and more speed, but without going too over the top.  After all, we are still at an afterhour. Although some like it wild. But not here. Although maybe a little bit. But that's a matter of opinion.  She skilfully combines in her story different subgenres of house, deep house, techno and dark disco music to a coherent journey in the end.

In addition to the mix, we didn't miss the opportunity to ask Lisa a few questions that we don't want to withhold from you.

➥ What are your musical influences? What is your musical background? 
 
I just don't want to and can't commit myself to that, because I rarely think in genres or choose my tracks accordingly. I simply listen to and play what I like or what I feel, and that can really be ANYTHING.  Mostly I like it groovy, cheeky and with a nice rolling bassline. In my sets you can also find a lot of vocals and guitars, but I can neither sing nor play guitar. :D What inspired and influenced me a lot on my musical journey were the endless nights at Kater Blau about 10 years ago, I would love to turn back time! 
 
➥ What do you think makes a good afterhour? 

Well, it's definitely having lovely people around you, the vibe just has to be right :) Apart from that, I love to dance a bit more at afterhours, so good music is super important to me! It can be a bit of everything, a few old tunes that make you nostalgic as well as tracks that you might not otherwise listen to and then discover and connect with at that very afterhour.
 
➥ What thoughts would you like to share with us about your mix?
 
Don't forget to go home :) Even the best afterhours come to an end and at some point you don't miss anything anymore! It's best to leave when it's at its best.

For its 225th release Freerange welcomes this exciting Austrian producer who goes by the name Demuja, you already know him if you follow closely LYO. His "Mary Janes Theory" record caused something of a stir when it came out at the start of the year on his fledgling vinyl-only label Muja. Taking his inspiration from classic deep house but with a rough and raw approach, Demuja sit proudly alongside the likes of Ross From Friends, Mall Grab or Rimbaudian riding the new wave of fresh, contemporary house.
On his Freerange debut, the Move EP offers up four original tracks, each with their own distinct flavour. Opening the release we have title track "Move" spring into action with simple Rhodes chords floating across a crisp, driving up-tempo groove showing off the deeper side to Demuja. Next up "B.o.o.m" offers us a simple yet captivating, dancefloor-focused affair with a lone, repeating piano stab hooking us into the action. Flipping over we have "Into My Brain" which brings some acid-tinged Italo vibes and a jacking beat to proceedings whilst the closing track "Turn Me On" cuts up a much-loved Paradise Garage classic for a warm, soul-infused slice of classic, bumpy house music.

Entropop or Popentropy --> the dissolution of an enjoyable genre. The decomposition and degradation of what had a chance at being popular or pleasurable. A gradual decline into chaos; a making of disorder that is acceptable to only a select few.

Constantijn Lange is a Berlin-based electronic music composer whose work has been released on labels such as Laut & Luise, Heimlich Musik, TRAUM Schallplatten, Get Physical, Sinnbus, Platon, Egoplanet, and RVNSWY. Known for his rich, layered synth melodies, jazzy and kraut-inspired atmospheres, field recordings, deep basslines, and handcrafted percussion elements, his sound carries a distinctive signature that runs consistently through his productions.

As both a live act and Dj, Constantijn performs at clubs and festivals around the world. His sets are often described as deeply emotional and personal, resonating with audiences across the globe—including in Germany, Russia, Poland, Switzerland, South Africa, Austria, Belgium, Mexico, and many other countries.
