Born and raised in Guanajuato, México, Saul Sanchez has been living for the past 9 years in Oslo, Norway. Having spent most of his childhood in the mountain hills of the Mexican "bajío" with his indigenous ancestors brought big influence to his life. Pre-hispanic, folkloric, Latin-American, tribal and shamanic sounds conform an essential part of his musical exploration. This is for him, a way to keep his roots alive. Saul introduces complex sets, giving as result a multi-cultural sounds journey which appears to transport you to ancient rituals, always by the hand, naturally, of powerful and hypnotic basslines. Although this little gouache by Pablo Picasso has been mistakenly identified as a study for his most inventive work, Les Demoiselles D'Avignon, it is really a preliminary work for Nude with Cloths, a painting painted shortly after. However, while some scholars place the execution of the Study in the winter of 1906-1907, it is most likely that it took place in Paris during the summer of 1907, when the painter was working on the painting. Nude with Cloths is a solitary depiction of the second female figure in Les Demoiselles, in which she extends the concept of the veil dance. If the geometric composition of Les Demoiselles is considered a "reaction" of Picasso to Derain's Bathers, which shocked him at the Salon des Indépendants in March 1907, in this Nude, the painter "challenges" the rhythms of Matisse's Blue Nude, exhibited in that same exhibition. The nude dancer moves like a medium, bewitched by some mysterious music, in a gesture delivered with her eyes closed. On the other hand, her movement reveals more to us than meets the eye and, as Pierre Daix puts it, Picasso manages to create "only with her rhythms a true depth." With this innovative solution, the artist not only solves the problem of painting in three dimensions, but also unstoppably begins the path towards cubist language.

"This is a story about home. About leaving home behind, venturing to new lands, feeling lost between places, and at last returning home again. It’s about realizing that home is not a physical place, but a place in your heart. It is safety, belonging, and being with the people you love.

Last year, we said goodbye to our home in Chicago to begin a new life in LA. In that transition, we moved around a lot, living in other people’s homes and bouncing between cities. This set is also inspired by our feelings of returning home to Burning Man, as many of us will this coming week after several years away. We hope you enjoy this journey through the excitement, melancholy, and bittersweet.

Jacqui Mateo draw from a wide range of influences to create their unique sound: soulful, groovy, playful, healing, futuristic, and from the heart. From Chicago and currently residing in Los Angeles, Jac & Matt grew up immersed in music and were classically-trained from an early age. Despite performing and producing individually for years, it was only in mid-2020, confined in a cabin in Wyoming, that they dove headfirst into DJing. Playing intimate gatherings soon led to their first club gigs, opening for artists such as Monolink and Satori.

As co-creative directors and co-founders of REVIVEcollective, Jac and Matt have a passion for creating immersive experiences that bring together art, music, and community. With their collective, they've produced large-scale underground events and host an annual creative retreat.

Outside of Jacqui Mateo, Jac is a cellist, vocalist, and sound practitioner facilitating sound meditations. She has released music as Jac Høja, Jac Støvler, and with her band A Billion Young. Matt DJs on his own under his name, Matthew McClone.

Thank you for given me the opportunity to play at your legendary Katzen birthday spectacle. I remember coming to your 40th birthday and being first time at Kater. It was the weekend where my life completely changed and ACID FLORA was born. 

Coming back each year is something in my agenda ever since. However this year it was extra special because I was given the chance to play at Acid Bogen for the 2nd time this year BUT your birthday made it even more special to me! Thank you for closing the circle of my wishes and believing in me by giving me a chance. I think everybody needs someone in their life who believes in them and gives them a chance.

You have inspired me since day one and it was love at the first hear! 

Playing this set has been my personal highlight. I've been super nervous, shaky and my hands where sweating crazy.

It's hard to put everything down in words but I hope everyone who listens to this live recording enjoys it as much as I did while playing it.

This saying from a well-known science fiction epic is probably familiar to many of us. Even in reality, this statement retains its truthfulness. The dark side creates curiosity. The unknown what hides and opens only to the initiated. It is interesting because it is not good. And already we want it even more. In science, this is called the "Forbidden Fruit" effect. It goes back to the story of Adam and Eve, who could not resist the temptation of the forbidden fruit. The wicked and mysterious seem to awaken our primal instincts and seduce us. The dark is strong!

Othertune has tried to capture this fascination of the dark in his set. It lives from his synthesizer sounds, which lay over your mind like fog and pull you deeper and deeper into the darkness. Can you resist the temptation?

In this world, some things are simply meant to be. One such thing is the wonderful symbiosis that is ACID FLORA and music.  From a simple 90’s tape deck all the way through to today’s vast and enchanting acoustic landscape, the young Swiss talent has devoted herself to finding and sculpting a signature sound that speaks to hearts and hips alike. 

With a raunchy touch of nonchalance she weaves heartfelt emotions with unapologetic ecstasy, oscillating between self-awareness and daring provocation. Driven by honesty and expression through music, ACID FLORA creates miraculous spaces in which the exploration of the self is not only allowed, but encouraged. With implicit authenticity, she invites people to let go of all conventions and immerse themselves in music. She does this by opening up herself to the people in the crowd and connecting with them in an intimate dialogue that inspires and fuels her musical selection.

Following her first booking back in 2015, ACID FLORA has been a staple at Berlin’s magnificent Kater Blau with appearances at prestigious events like the Bar 25 weekender and Kater-resident Mira’s Birthday in November ‘22. On top she's played two Stil vor Talent showcases, and secured a residency at Zurich’s world-renowned Hive Club, delivering her distinctive vibes to some of the most distinguished dancefloors in Europe. 2023 is shaping up to be another amazing year for ACID FLORA, with several confirmed international festival appearances, as well as her very first release, set to come out on Oliver Koletzki's A Tribe Called Kotori Label.

Clearly, this woman is on a ride that is bound to get a whole lot wilder in the not so distant future.

DISTRIKT is one of the camps who welcomed us very early on. What we like most about it is that it feels like a real nightclub in the most surreal environment. Kramer, Ben and the whole D-crew are the most welcoming and incredible hosts you can imagine. They put so much blood, sweat & tears in this project. 

And what we love that you have to prepare very differently. You have to find the jams which have a great energy and still the vibes. As it’s daytime and such a big space it’s pure bliss to unite all the different kind of humans, species, stray cats & enthusiasts. The little extras like the green room are a prove of their never ending love for details. We are beyond thankful to be a part of their journey for so many years now and hopefully we are still celebrating this camp another 40 years!

Na das ging ja schon mal gut los 2020…
Mit unserem 🐥44ten Igelkarussell-Podcast wollen wir diesen guten Lauf aufrechterhalten und euch aka-tony aus Zürich vorstellen.
Neben dem Auflegen ist er außerdem Betreiber des Podcastserie aka-tapes, wo von unserem Jupikur just diese Woche ein Podcast erschienen ist. Daher empfehlen wir euch an dieser Stelle, hört gern mal rein in diesen Mix. 
Seit geraumer Zeit verzückt der mysteriöse Aka-Tony mit seinen äußerst breitgefächerten Sets die Schweizer Gefilde. Von Slow und Soulfull über stampfend-treibenden Tribal-Exkursionen ist alles dabei. Die Tugenden die ihnen Leiten sind: Freiheit, Leidenschaft und Diversität.
