An epic story of a young girl and her rise to glory in a fairytale setting in Ireland. Erin, a beautiful, romantic melody evoking lush landscapes, akin to the English/Irish countryside.. A miniature version of perhaps what Vaughan-Williams might do orchestrally. I think I could also expand it orchestrally in the future..evoking heroic tales and dreams of a bucolic setting.

Inspired by my Pleyel (the piano of Chopin), C minor and nature, I made this quiet Nocturne. I experimented with the felted sound by using different materials including interfacing and felt.  The chord progression is from a previous violin, piano, and cello work I did called Jing Ye Si (https://sharonchen.bandcamp.com/track/thoughts-on-a-still-night).

Cinderella’s song about dreams and beautiful wishes is perfect for  the Christmas/Holiday season. I tried to keep the delicacy and innocence of the song. This is the original version with a twist on the theme. Classic, vintage Disney music brings beautiful childhood memories back..It was very difficult to record with acoustic piano and I hope I brought this familiar song some justice!

I wrote this original waltz after playing the Shostakovich Jazz suite No. 2:6, Waltz 2 on my violin.. I love figure skating so I can imagine a figure skater dancing to this in the Olympics.. I also wrote this for #PianoDay2022

where rivers weave like dragon’s breath and the moon rests upon rippling waters."

A firefly, drifting by, paused to greet her..

Night after night, he returned, 
speaking of gardens enshrined in clouds.. 
of cranes rising over pine-clad peaks, 
of lotus petals drifting above mirrored lakes.
Though the rose had never left the earth s
he had vividly wandered through mountains and rivers..

I originally wrote Qi last year in a smaller string version and now have expanded upon instrumentation including guzheng, brass, piano, and recorders.

Qi (Vital Energy)

Recently I was diagnosed with two brain tumors.  I will have surgery in the near future.  With surgery I am told I have a 50% chance to lose hearing in my left ear. One tumor is growing in size on the hearing/balance nerve and in the inner auditory canal. This song is part of my new album that I will release before surgery. Thanks to Adam4le (https://soundcloud.com/adam4le) for his inspirational piano track. I improvised strings in one or takes on top of piano and mixed it with two reverbs. Solo strings and piano in a medium hall and larger string orchestra in a large hall. (I used the Medium Hall and the Dream Hall in Logic Pro.) Coming to streaming platforms. New piano and orchestra work for #PianoDay2020…Different from my norm, this work is fantastical, whimsical, and uses granular synthesis as well as tuned percussion, harp, and guitar. A guitar friend on SoundCloud had challenged me to make a guitar and piano work earlier this year as it has not been done much.. The guitarist who had agreed to collaborate with me could not record at this time so I used my moon guitar software playing piano motifs.. A performance for reaching 2000 + SC followers. 

It sits on the introspective side of neoclassical but with strong melodic content. The piano improv by itself is very different as the MIDI keyboard does not allow great technical difficulty in performance.

Dream Of The Wild Rose

I had this motif in my head that kept varying and transforming; I found it hard to end. The sentiment was one of love, acceptance and returning home, so I named it ‘Your Heart Carried Me Home’. This partly expresses the long journey I had through troubling times from repeated misdiagnoses of a brain tumor in my left inner ear canal which threatened my hearing. After a decade it was finally discovered last year. Pre-surgery the variations were minor but here it finally resolves with conviction.
