Inspired by my Pleyel (the piano of Chopin), C minor and nature, I made this quiet Nocturne. I experimented with the felted sound by using different materials including interfacing and felt.  The chord progression is from a previous violin, piano, and cello work I did called Jing Ye Si (https://sharonchen.bandcamp.com/track/thoughts-on-a-still-night).

Cinderella’s song about dreams and beautiful wishes is perfect for the Christmas/Holiday season. I tried to keep the delicacy and innocence of the song with theme and progressing variations. Each variant paints a slightly different scene and ambiance. Classic, vintage Disney music brings back to us beautiful childhood memories..It was very difficult to record with acoustic piano and I hope I brought this familiar song some justice!  The theme of the original work was from Franz Liszt's Etude No. 9 Ricordanza of the Transcendental Etudes.

I wrote this original waltz after playing the Shostakovich Jazz suite No. 2:6, Waltz 2 on my violin.. I love figure skating so I can imagine a figure skater dancing to this in the Olympics.. I also wrote this for #PianoDay2022

Here I took the basic chords of Last Christmas, made it into minor key and waltz style with rubato.. improvised freely, will change every time I play it.. added many trills and scalar motifs like Chopin. Though the chord progression is repeated, this one is actually the hardest of the three to make and record. The other two came easily for unknown reasons. I also started the ideas for Last Christmas and Silent Night (in the style of Chopin) last year. 'Christmas time is here' I made in a couple days this year.

It has been some time... I have had a jaw procedure and if I do not exercise it, the surgery is in vain. This creates more pain in the jaw and neck and I did not practice my violin for months.

What Was I Made For? was done some time ago. However, events recently changed my ideas on the movie Barbie. While I never considered myself a feminist per se, I encountered recently the difficulty women, especially minority women, face in many fields.. Though I do not consider myself very high, a few men began to abuse, bully, sabotage me in Spotify. This will happen in all fields, but I feel especially vulnerable because it is an art form. Bullying stifles creativity..The point is we should not be treated as property. Double standards because if we stand up for ourselves, we are deemed 'aggressive'. New piano and orchestra work for #PianoDay2020…Different from my norm, this work is fantastical, whimsical, and uses granular synthesis as well as tuned percussion, harp, and guitar. Three Love Stories, Act 3

I had this motif in my head that kept varying and transforming; I found it hard to end. The sentiment was one of love, acceptance and returning home, so I named it ‘Your Heart Carried Me Home’. This partly expresses the long journey I had through troubling times from repeated misdiagnoses of a brain tumor in my left inner ear canal which threatened my hearing. After a decade it was finally discovered last year. Pre-surgery the variations were minor but here it finally resolves with conviction.
