A core part of the Control Freak Recordings family, London based artist @keplrr has built a reputation as a deft & talented producer with unparalleled attention to detail. In the wake of the widespread support for his 2020 EP ‘Reconstructed Club’, we asked four producers we have long-admired to flip a track from the original release. The result is ‘Club Reconstructed’ - a collection of remixes which distill the spirit of Keplrr’s original record into new forms.

First up, Holding Hands boss @desertsoundcolony serves up one of his signature slammers, locking Convection into a thumping four to the floor groover. Berlin-based @kondukukonduku, who has carved some of the most kinetic, angular club tracks of recent years with releases on Nous’klaer Audio, Spazio Donsible and others, provides a second interpretation of Convection, time-stretching the original material into a slow-motion panic attack.

On the flip, @syzuk makes his return to the label after 2019’s highly acclaimed Bunzunkunzun EP, applying his organic touch to Esoteric Functions with a ‘refunction’, which blurs the line between techno and 140 - packing some serious low-end and a cheeky mid-way switch-up to send the dance wild. Rounding things off, Milan’s @piezopz proves his reputation as one of the most inventive producers on the scene, repurposing Bod’s Realm into an aggy, warped & technoid ‘Doom Ragga Mix’.

The EP will also be available on our first ever colour run, available exclusively via Bleep and Phonica - limited 100 copies only on translucent red vinyl in a full-colour reverse board sleeve. As a Bandcamp exclusive, we’ll also be offering limited double packs, including ‘Club Reconstructed’ alongside Keplrr’s recently repressed original release.

Raketa is a Slovenian artist from Ljubljana and today we are happy to premiere her tune MIRIS which comes out as a part of the upcoming VA 3 compilation on Emotional Voyage Records, the funky music outlet of UrbnMowgli and moodrich from Berlin. 

Some words from the artist herself:

So MIRIS for me was a journey through loneliness and synths can help a lot with that. My inspiration was an open source vocal synth with which I explored the role of voice in music that can be other than just carrying the lyrics. The journey brought me and the track to dark 90s acid-trancey vibe that suits lonely feelings well. And as Slovenian meaning of Osama alludes connotation of loneliness is not only bad - it can lead you to mysterious places and fill you with powerful energies.

Los Angeles-based @maudevos brings their eclectic, nature-inspired Unearthed EP to Scuffed Recordings, backed by remixes by Leese and Tryphème.

Produced following Maude’s move to the small mountain community of Topanga, California, the Unearthed EP fuses electronic production with organic textures, featuring recordings and samples from the sonic atmosphere of their new home - providing a distinct textural backdrop to the project.

The title track opens the release, featuring vocals from singer/songwriter SOLARPLEXXUS (@user-488803487), who bonded with Maude over their shared love of nature. Up next are ‘Nocturnal Catharsis’ and ‘Indigo Orb’, which juxtapose layers of tension-building instrumentation with moments of all-out club release.

@l-eese provides the first remix on the release, with her re-imagining of ‘Nocturnal Catharsis’ - a workout in intricate drum programming and layered bass fusion from the Brussels-based artist.

Closing out the EP is Parisian producer @trypheme, whose deep, contemplative remix of ‘Unearthed’ is the perfect ending to a varied, genre-defying release.

As part of French label PRISME's 'Falconidae' compilation – curated by Axonberg, Canadian producer Looting contributes with 'Think About You' in which he connects the dots between dancehall-like riddims and drum and bass with a classic vocal sample on top.

The third compilation from the label oscillates between intricate beats and mysterious synthetic lines. This latest release invites ten European producers to venture into a dark club atmosphere where deep basses mingle with the sweat of leads.

Scuffed Recordings line up the fifth release in the Scuffed Presents compilation series, looking ahead to 2021 with four new artists to the label, and sounds ranging from broken bass, UK garage, rave-inspired breaks, and rolling techno.

Opening the release is Austrian producer @awo_ojiji, a longstanding member of the Graz-based collective Disko404 who released his debut ‘Static Flow’ EP in 2020 on Eternal Ocean. His unique interpretation of broken, bass-led techno on ‘Woozy’ marks him out as an artist to watch in 2021.
