Decoys explore the ways that internal perception distorts and develops as it navigates the fluid boundaries of the self. The EP’s title invokes the distracting and alluring elements of an incomplete double—an illusion that, upon closer inspection, uncovers something perhaps even deeper than its originating source. The title track pairs driving rhythms with dark, rustling atmospheres and layers of competing bass punctured by the screech of unidentifiable machines to create a relentless forward momentum with no clear destination. “Imitation Body” layers found sound to assemble a beat that pushes and pulls with a distinct swing, anchored by ghost-like ambiance and an insistent low end. On “Fear Of Others,” paranoia and uncertainty channel into a chest-rattling dubstep excursion. As the track shifts between two distinct moods, the elements anchoring it mutate and shift. The EP closes with “Respite,” a breathy half-time closer accented by bursts of frenetic sound and warbling bass, as though the music itself is resisting disintegration.

Label co-founder Tal Fineman launches new alias @faulteruk with Obstinacy, a 4-track EP that showcases his penchant for cutting edge, contemporary club sounds.

Spanning a broad spectrum of energy, Obstinacy balances heads-down groove with a meticulous, measured approach to songwriting.

A record of two halves, the EP opens with two peak-time bombs designed to ignite warehouse dancefloors worldwide. First up is the unrelenting techno weapon ‘Perspectives’ (file in your wormhole playlist) followed by a slamming, in-your-face electro wobbler, ‘Data Spike’.

The ‘B-side’ shifts towards deeper shades and organic textures, with the dub techno & minimal-leaning title track 'Obstinacy' - an ideal layering tool for like-minded DJs. Finally, the EP closes with 'Zaf (Dub Mix)', a brooding, delay-laced gem that rounds out the release on a moody note, hinting at much more to come.
