The first in our casomast mix series comes from Austrian Theo Meier. Placing his sound somewhere between Deep House, Deep Techno and Progressive House, Theo's signature warm sound is defined by beautiful reverbs, funky percussion and layered synths. He's released on labels such as Einmusika and Traum, and earlier this month launched his own label Weltn Audio with the first release from himself.

The mix features tracks from labels like Innervisions, Ouïe and Permanent Vacation, as well as a few unreleased bits from himself.

With their 61st release, Perspectives Digital turn to India and the combined talents of Dharmalogy & Sanjay Dutta as the pair present their aptly titled "Seed / Renascence" EP. A single remix comes from iconic UK artist, Nick Muir.

Originally coming together for a debut release for Baroque Records in December 2012, Dharam and Dutta now revive their long-dormant partnership with a debut original EP for Darin Epsilon's imprint. Kolkata based artist, Dharam, quickly found success with his Dharmalogy moniker and a passion for "hypnotic sounds that could lead to a beautiful trance state of mind". A regular performer behind the decks of the clubs in his hometown, Dharmalogy's monthly "Sounds of Eden" show provided a further vehicle to demonstrate his talents as a musical tastemaker. In tandem, a production career has seen Dharmalogy feature on a host of impressive imprints that include Movement Recordings and Bonzai Progressive.

Joining forces with veteran Indian DJ Sanjay Dutta after a six year hiatus, "Seed" trips across its seven minute voyage with a shaker-fueled percussive groove and deep kick that lay the foundations for a rich bass pattern to lock tightly to the rhythmic framework. Evolving subtly across the opening section, a shimmering melodic motif edges to the fore at the midpoint before a hypnotic melodic sequence reveals itself in the second half.

The flip side "Renascence" revels in head-shaking bass to create a deep and brooding atmosphere. Built upon traditional rhythmic principles with its offbeat snare and hi hat pattern, an arpeggio gradually filters into audible range to fill the sonic foreground. Coruscating elegantly across the track, the sequence rises and falls in synchronicity with rhythmic cadence and bassline dominance. Reaching its zenith with sustained counterpoint chord progression, the final drop reveals the full array of rhythm and melody with dramatic panache.

The word 'legend' is oft-used but rarely more applicable than to someone who's been at the vanguard of the music industry for almost four decades. Renowned for his solo performances across South America and production work for a plethora of labels, Nick Muir's association with John Digweed on the latter's Bedrock imprint has been long and illustrious. With almost 200 production credits for the label, his "Crazy Diamond/Divenire" EP, alongside Digweed and Eagles & Butterflies, illustrates precisely why Muir continues to perform at the summit of the underground dance music arena. Making his second appearance on Perspectives Digital after an August 2018 remix of Darin Epsilon's "Denpasar", Nick Muir returns to the label with a compelling remix of "Seed". Full of driving bassline power and rapid-fire shakers, a hypnotic motif morphs into a filtered-delay frenzy as it feeds back on itself to a rousing zenith. Other melodies drift and play off each other where they converge and culminate in a breakdown that explodes in metallic power with rhythm and bass in the final movement. The result is an innovative and dynamic remix of the highest order.

Dharmalogy & Sanjay Dutta - Renascence (Original Mix) [Perspectives Digital]

The debut release from Dousk's Bumpy Ride imprint, "Thunder Bath" was a driving tech house fuelled, dancefloor destroyer. As Particles now returns to the track, a pair of Polish and Chilean artists take charge with new remixes.

A self-confessed "risk taker and sound auteur", Polish born, Jakub Helinski is an artist with a distinctive sound under his Controlwerk production moniker. Amassing over a century of production credits since a debut for Soundwaves in September 2010, Controlwerk has been a regular on the label. Moreover, it is with the Tuxedo led Electronic Tree imprint that the UK based artist has been most prolific. January 2017's full-length "Borderline" album showed a breadth of talent that resulted in a 10-track offering redolent in techno prowess. A full remix album followed later in the year with interpretations from fellow countryman, Kobana, and Tuxedo, illustrating the popularity of the Controlwerk sound. A pair of remixes for East Café and Mondkrater also hit the Particles catalogues in 2017 as Controlwerk now returns with a third. Taking on "Thunder Bath", a shaker-fuelled percussive cadence and mule-like kick supply a brash techno groove while melodic flourishes from Dousk's original make themselves heard. A shimmering new sequence can be found at the pared back breakdown which then extends itself into the third movement in glorious fashion.

Under his Simply City soubriquet, Cesar Romero took the Santiago clubs of his Chile home by storm, before subsequent appearances across South America and a five-year residency at "Nectar" on Mexico's River Maya. A move to Montreal saw further domination across the clubs of his adopted Canadian home and a further residency at the city's renowned "Stereo". A similarly impressive production career has run in tandem as Romero's attention to detail has seen a score of production credits aligned to some of the underground dance industry's finest imprints. Indeed, 2013's "Breaking" EP for Nick Warren's Hope Recordings began a stellar career, before additional work for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat – with Tone Depth in 2014 and Michael A in 2018 – cemented a growing reputation. Joining forces with Tone Depth on the "Glass Elevator" EP saw Simply City debut on Proton Music in July 2017 while a reworking of Dousk now sees the Canadian based artist find his artistic feet on Particles. Using the central melodic motifs of Dousk's original to strong effect, a laid-back groove is the perfect vehicle for a raft of new production material, not least in the Vangelis-esque chord progressions that float across the shuffling hi-hat pattern and cavernous bassline. Hypnotic in execution, a wonderful stepped arpeggio emerges from a pattern begun in the early stages as it blends in extended fashion with pads and beat to create an expertly crafted new progression.

Fresh and clean new remixes from Controlwerk and Simply City have filled Dousk's "Thunder Bath" to the brim.

Spring 2018 saw Mexican artist, Hot Tuneik, debut on Proton Music with "Revival". Now returning to the EP, new remixes from esteemed producers provide a fresh new perspective.

The ‘double-headed dragon' that comprises the Lanvary production duo has seen Alex and Andrew become a major force in the electronic music scene. Diverse musical perspectives have seen the pair delight with a musical recipe that combines elements from progressive and deep house with techno flourishes in a distinct and unique sound. Over a century of production credits can be found next to the Lanvary name since an early debut for Underphunk in late 2010. Going on to see their music featured on Stellar Fountain, Mistique Music and Particles, their work for the latter has found success with a trio of original EPs in 2015's "Micromegas", 2016's "Penumbra" and 2017's "Leviathan". Lanvary's work for Proton Music is centred around the superb "Venus" in December 2017, while a pair of remixes for Matter is now followed by a wonderful reworking of "Memories". Hitting hard with dominant beat and ticking off-beat percussion, a sumptuous bass groove quickly makes its presence felt as the melodic elements of the original resonate through the Lanvary interpretation. The pulsating string motifs from Hot TuneiK's track rise and fall throughout and a host of new production material supply dynamic dance-floor credentials to keep club-goers happy with a seamless blend of rhythm and melody.

Hot TuneiK's "Revival" is complete as new remixes from Matter and Lanvary reinvent and revitalise.

My Friend return with two records that showcase an exciting evolution in the duo's sound. After the success of their debut EP at the beginning of the year, with Radio 1's Danny Howard making them 'Ones To Watch' for 2018, the boys have gone on to garner support from some of the scene's heavyweight DJs and producers. Playing at a number of festivals over the summer, James and Arch are showing no signs of slowing down as they bring us their 3rd offering of the year so far with 'Pascalet' & 'Saturn'. Two pieces which show very different sides to their productions.

The lead track 'Pascalet' shows My Friend experimenting with the use of vocals for the first time. The tune instantly emotes feelings of summer, with atmospheric backing vocals washing over a feel good chord progression. The music effortlessly expands throughout, subtly bringing in more elements of harmony until we reach a blissful summit. 

Saturn is a different beast altogether. A mean, arp infused club weapon at its finest. The track meanders through progressive synth lines, punctuated with neat percussion and a moody bassline before it breaks out into a huge pay off half way through the tune. This one is destined for peak time club sets!
