More than 20 years after its original release, N’MOTS returns in a carefully restored digital edition.

Originally self-produced and recorded at Studio Kapricorn in 2003 with Richard Hein, the album marked Damien Elisa’s first fully realised artistic statement. Blending Creole lyricism, jazz harmony, broken beat textures and subtle electronic experimentation, N’MOTS stood apart from the dominant sounds of its time.

At its core:
N’MOTS = one word.
One word can hold multiple meanings.
One word can open a universe.

Produced with limited tools and limitless vision, the album still feels ahead of its time.

To celebrate the next On & On -- this Saturday, Jan. 8th at the Black Cat -- I put together a club-friendly edit of one of my favorite garage rock tracks of all time. It's a classic, so I didn't go overboard, but I think Van Morrison sounds pretty great with big old kick drums underneath him. Enjoy!
