I was asked to support the label launch party for Restless Planet Records at Timbre Room, and it was a chance to dive into a more minimalistic sound that I had not yet explored. I love having the opportunity to try out new genres, while also being given the space to stay true to myself, and as always, keep it weird. I hope you enjoy listening to this genre-hopping journey.

When I think of love, I often feel emotions that are associated with loss, sadness, failure, and disconnection. The distance between my parents and me, the dark shadow of the walls I have built around myself because I didn't experience healthy connections as a child, or the many failed intimate relationships I've had to walk away from. 

Some may say it's easier to wallow in those feelings. I don't believe that to be true. For every yin, there is a yang, and for every sunset, a sunrise. I hope that my set will assist you in locating the places inside of your body that are holding onto pain and sadness because you feel like love has failed you, or you aren't good enough for love. 

But do not fear, we won't stay there too long. Inside all of us is an ember that is waiting to be stoked, and the music is the breath that will re-ignite the fire, warming our bodies and souls from within and giving us confidence by instilling the importance of self-love. We are warriors of love and we will rise.

Recorded at the outdoor barn stage at the Shameless Vicennial Festival at Forest Park in Darrington Washington. Headliners for the weekend were John Tejada and J.Phlip. 

This wasn't just any festival, it was a family reunion of the beautiful, weird, and supportive community that the Shameless crew has built and become known for over the past 20 years. It was an absolute honor to get down with so many of my friends, fellow DJs, peers, and mentors.

Erika discovered Seattle’s underground electronic music scene in 2008, and quickly became a regular patron of the dance floor. Once she had become a part of the community, Erika understood the importance of giving back, and could often be found volunteering at the local club events and festivals. Originally influenced by the more bass-driven sounds of Drum n’ Bass and Hardcore, Erika’s taste in music as a dancer expanded to techno and the many sub-genres of house. After over a decade of making the dance floors of Seattle’s clubs, lofts, rooftops and abandoned warehouses her home, Erika decided to dive further into electronic music and began DJing as Copeland in 2021. Because of her many years of dancing and feeling the music, Copeland has an intuitiveness to her DJing style that cannot be taught. As her confidence behind the deck has grown, so has her energy and movement, which feeds the crowd and sets the vibe. Rarely sticking to one genre in her sets, you’ll hear everything from Classic Chicago/Detroit House, Funk & Disco, to Minimal, Deep & Psychedelic House, Afro House and Organic House; paired with sensual and soulful undertones. Copeland has had the opportunity to DJ and produce several summer festivals such as Sun Worship, Afterglow, Cascadia, Panacea, Audible Bicycle Day, and APOG, plus local events for her burning man camp, The Dusty Booty Ranch, the infamous Train Car House Party, Flammable, Uniting Souls, and Hunt & Gather. Copeland has DJ'd at Monkey Loft, Lo-Fi, Madame Lou's, Substation, Nectar, High Dive, The Woods, The Seattle Art Museum, Timbre Room, The Hiyu boat, Cherry, Chop Suey, and more! Copeland is also a resident of the 25-year old House label, Viva Recordings, where she is learning about the business side of throwing events; bringing her full circle back to where she started, focused on the well-being of the Seattle Dance Community that has become her chosen family.
